Beach wedding dress

Kerstin, on December 5, 2019 at 12:48 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27
Hey ladies! I’m new to the app so I hope I’m doing this correctly. I have a beach wedding in June 2020 and I think I’ve found my dress but I’m worried it will be to big or hot/sweaty to be on the beach in Texas mid summer. Has anyone else had this issue or have any advice? Thanks!

That’s such a beautiful dress! I have a beach wedding too, but not in Texas. I did grow up in Texas and remember how hot and humid it can get. Your dress looks light, do you think you will sweat a lot in it? How long will your ceremony be and where will the reception be held? 10 mins ceremony to wear a beautiful dress, and then the rest of the day in AC reception place doesn’t sound bad to me!

Beautiful dress. May or may not be too hot but keep in mind that your train will possibly drag in the sand and has high potential to get a little dirty. But if for a short time and an indoor reception. It could be pulled off😊

Omg girl I’m having a beach wedding in Cali at the same time! Lol. My hubby is from Texas and he’s always saying how the weather is bi polar. I’m aiming for a more flowy and loose dress, that will fit the theme. Since you think it might be hot/humid , you might want to consider how you would feel wearing it . But I’m sure it will get cool during the night

    Hey there, Kerstin Smiley smile

    This dress is gorgeous!!

How full is the dress? Does it feel warm and heavy when you tried it on? Are there a lot of layers?

Will the reception be indoors with ac? I'm thinking along the same lines as Andrea. Would you be happy to wear it for the ceremony, knowing the reception will be in ac?

I'm also having a beach wedding (JULY 2020) I have also been taking into account the weather when trying on dresses! It's a beautiful dress and it looks stunning on you! I think the train on it would be beautiful gliding in the sand I would have to say if your nervous about being hot it's all up to how you regualate temperature? I get hot very easily so I am looking for more of the boho dress since they are very light but honestly some of the ballgown I've tried on were also verylight just depending on materials. so I would say that only you could decide if this dress would be appropriate for your dream wedding! you do look amazing in this dress

It could be hot and I am not from TX rather FL and the weather in the summer is hot, humid and rainy season lol. Look into air brush make up. I have heard that it helps against sweating. Are you having the reception indoors?

It was hot in the studio trying it on and I had lawyers of undergarments on that were required when in reality I won’t be wearing them on the big day. The bottom is almost completely tulle and has a slit on the left leg that goes pretty high so I’m hoping no layering under it would make it more airy on the big day. We are getting married on the water at a private beach house and the reception will be underneath the house deck, so all outside but hoping the shade will help!

Thank you Kristyn! i agree about the train looking amazing in the sand, my goal when going in was to look for boho/flowy dresses and I found one online I just loved and upon finding it in stores it was around 18 grand! The one I have on was extremely similar for about 16 grand less! I do overheat very easily but due to it being mostly tulle and having a slit up the leg I’m hoping without the large layering of undergarments they had in it that it will be okay!

Omg yes I agree tulle is very light so should be nice to move in for a beach wedding and removing the under layers is very smart I think it will work perfect your gonna look amazing Smiley smile

Hey Theadra! Your hubby is very right! It really doesn’t get cooler at night just more humid sadly Smiley sad and being Texas weather it could be raining, heat strokes, or hail storms all in one day! The dress I have on is almost all tulle with a slit up one side just has mermaid style undergarments on that were required so it didn’t even fit the shape of the dress Smiley sad I ordered the dress and it won’t be here until April 2020! 2 months before the wedding. Hoping and praying that I can have it altered to be more flowy and airy than it felt in the hot store I tried it on in! The entire upper half is lace therefore see-through and will have to be covered due to his family’s wild hatred for tattoos so I’m hoping I can put a lightweight material inside of it to cover!

Thank you so much! I will have to get some coverage for the top because it is see-through but I’m researching matieral they could use at alterations to make it not so stuffy in it! Thank you doll!

Thank you Brittney! I have thought about the train getting dirty and have definitely come to terms with it. It’s an outdoor wedding and reception but the reception will be on a deck underneath the beach house here so hoping for some shade!

Doesn’t sound bad to me either, Andrea! Sadly reception is outdoors but I think it may be alright with the shade provided! It will be in Galveston so completely south Texas. The dress is mostly tulle and I believe was suppose to be worn as a ball gown with proper undergarments but I’m considering eliminating the poofy undergarments completely to make it more flowy and light. They revived the dress a few hours before I tried it so I was the only one to try it at the time an didn’t have much advice from my wedding dress advisor considering she had never seen it on anyone!

I plan on doing something outside and if it is hot I am leaning to either early morning like a sunrise or a sunset ceremony so it is less hot.

Also, I had a similar dress for my August wedding in D.C., which is unbearably hot and humid at that time. My skirt had four or five layers. We married in the morning and thankfully we’re blessed with a nice breeze. Frankly, I was so happy and excited, I didn’t think about the heat and humidity all day.

I had a beach wedding in Mexico in April and i wore a two layer dress. Technically three. It was light and stretchy and breathable. Walk around in your dress, it is beautiful, to see how sweaty you get.
