Back Fat in Wedding Dress :(

Strwpink, on March 28, 2012 at 10:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Hey ladies so I just tried on my dress last nite and was Horrified!!!! I apparently didn't notice that some of my back fat was hanging out at my last fitting. I seriously went into panic mode today and I didn't know what to do because the bridal salon I bought my dress at was gonna charge me to take it out on the sides, I just about Died!!! Well My smart friend told me to try taking out the cups I had sewn in and WHAT DO YA KNOW I could breathe and no more back Fat HAHAHA. Has any body had Dress Issues lately please share.

Hmm, were your boobs that big? Taking out cups to eliminate "back fat"? I am thinking you did not truly have back fat. :-)

@ Kathy - HAHAHA that's what my Bridesmaid said she thought I was nuts but in all honesty I could breathe the CUPS took up quite a bit of space in my dress I looked like I had implants Smiley smile

If you fixed the problem, who cares, no more worries.

I have seen many unflattering pictures of brides online with "issues" like the ones that you described. Personally I wouldn't want to look like that on my wedding day. I am a plus sized bride. I made sure my dress fit right. And I was worried about back fat, I didn't have any "hanging out" but I did have a veil and that made me feel better about my back side plus I have long hair which I use as a security blanket!

If you feel confident and sexy in what you are wearing, that is all that matters!

@ Mrs. D - I feel so much better now after fixing the problem and yes no more worries Smiley smile but I seriously sat in front of the computer all last night looking at brides backs haha I know I'm twisted but I wanted to know if it was a common issue among brides. And I totally feel sexy now Smiley smile

I had the same issue!! Thankfully, I know a close family friend seamstress and she just made it a corset back. It cost $100, but it was so worth every penny! (and now my hips look good too!!!!)

Uh YES. i went to try on my dress like a month ago and couldn't get it zipped up. granted i had on a longline bra that i plan on wearing and i've gained a little weight since i got it back but it wasn't THAT MUCH!!! i was horrified but went back to my mom's like 2 weeks ago to try it on again and it fit so i'm good ha just have to maintain it for another 20 days and we'll be good!

glad you were able to get yours figured out, it's not a settling feeling when it won't fit ha

I hadn't tried my dress on until a couple months after buying it. I had gained about 3lb but I knew there was no way it would be a problem. Imagine my complete horror when I put everything on (strapless bra included) and it wouldn't snap!! I almost DIED. I know I cried. Then my mom had me take off the bra..BOOM fits just fine Smiley smile

I have my second fitting tomorrow and will be looking for any back fat!

I'm really sensitive lately about my upper arms, chest and upper back. It seems I'm all soft and mushy there and nice and toned everyplace else. So I will be checking!!

Glad to know I'm not the only one!

It really did feel a lot better without it. And as long as the girls stay put, we won't have a problem Smiley winking

Same thing happened to me when I went to pick up my dress last month. My friend could barely zip my dress and I had a lot of back fat. Finally I said let me try taking my bra off, and it fit perfectly. I think I may be able to go without it on the day of (and then I don't have to worry about my bra showing or peeking out) but I might buy a corset bra just to be on the safe side and have an option.
