Average price of centerpieces?

Hi ladies! So I was just curious.... What do you think the average price of centerpieces is? Per table? My friends who are married already say no one pays attention to the centerpieces.... I honestly never noticed at weddings until we got engaged! We have round tables that will seat about 8 people probably expecting close to 23 tables. FH doesn't want to spend a ton on flowers that cost a lot and won't last. I can't say I blame him. I found lanterns that could be a cheaper way out without looking cheap. I bought some online but now I'm having buyers remorse. Also worried my florist will be upset with me but she said I have up to 4 weeks before my wedding to change my estimate. A long engagement is making me change my mind about a lot of wedding details... It's driving me crazy!

Ours will be $40 - $65 depending on the board game, our dinner tables will have centrepieces provided by the venue, and the games room will be set up with board games that can be played and then guests are welcomed to take one home with them if they can!

People definitely noticed my centerpieces lol. There were a ton of pictures of them on FB the next day. That being said, if I were to poll random relative X about what my flowers looked like, I'm sure they would not remember lol.

Centerpieces were $28.00 each, but if you are doing other things like chair covers/runners, are you factoring that into 'table cost'?

So for the runners they were $5 each table and then the center piece was $28.00, I made my table numbers, so they weren't super crazy, but that's not the total cost of the table because we ended up having chair cover/bands, etc.

This is the only pic I have right now where people aren't in the picture

Most of the time you can save some money if you purchase the vases yourself rather than using what the florist provides.

I agree lots of factors determine the cost of centerpieces. Here are mine they are $195 each for the tall ones and $95 each for the short ones in the DC metro area.

Gah, I didn't realize floral centerpieces were so expensive! They are gorgeous though... I guess it's up to FH's parents (who are paying for the floral budget) to decide if they would like them.

I'm not doing chair covers or runners no. That was just for the flowers. She said buying the vases myself would save money overall but what she told me to buy was sold out on the website she gave me and I haven't found anything similar in size that I liked. Wow yeah those centerpieces are beautiful! I guess I shouldn't have be complaining you ladies paid a whole lot more. This is what I get for picking the expensive photographer lol. I did wake up to an apology letter from FH this morning so maybe we can talk this out. Thanks ladies!

I'd estimate that I will have spent approximately $450 on decor by the time all is said and done (all flowers, all centerpieces). I am DIYing silk arrangements and putting them in various vintage containers (some are vases, some are bowls, some are boxes/tins) that I thrifted for between 2-5 dollars a piece. The silk flowers were pricey, but very lifelike (I am currently using some of the arrangements in my house (because I had nowhere to store it all, lol) and I get compliments all the time on how lifelike and vibrant they are), and obviously much less than real flowers. between 12 tables, the head table, and little decorations here and there, I figure it's somewhere in the realm of $30 per "setting".

@lauren, the first photo you posted with the wood 'cookie' and lanter/mason jar glass with flower... Thats what we are doing on all of our tables!...

My FFIL has cut all the wood 'cookies' for us. so that was Free

We have been given hundres, and i mean hundreds of mason jar glasses, so those were all Free

I bought the Lanterns from the Dollarama, $3.00/piece. so $40.00

I just need to talk to my florist.... which i have been totally putting off... hahaha

These are mine. They're $175 each. I'm in NY. I do agree that some guests wouldn't notice, but I personally always notice the flowers because I love them so much. Couldn't imagine my wedding without flowers

Leesha, that's awesome! I asked FH and FFIL if they could make me some of those wooden cookies lol. They have a mountain house with a ton of wood so it shouldn't be that hard to saw them and finish them. How wide are yours? I'm just debating how big we would need them to be to fit it all on there. I think it's time to put these guys to work! Haha. Wow I didn't even think of a dollar store for the lanterns. I'm hoping to find mini vases for something like that but I was given a ton of mason jars as well I just think they'll be too big. The OOT guests is a big concern as well! We are all OOT and that's a lot of centerpieces to take home. In a way flowers would be easier because people would want to take those for the most part. Hmmmm, j think half and half is the way to go I like mix and matching anyway! Thanks ladies!

Btw I better check in my venue contract if we are allowed to have lit candles. Unlit would still look pretty though right?

My low profile ones are $175 each, but that's because I went with peonies and hydrangea.

Love this thread - so much information! Since the FH and I scaled back on our guest list and venue, $65-100+ per table isn't totally unreasonable for a five/six tables. Smiley smile Thanks for sharing, ladies. I better look for a florist to work with!

If centerpieces aren't important to you than you don't have to pay for the full florist-made centerpieces. I think that floral centerpieces run an average of $50-$60/table. For me, that was too much. So instead, FH built planter boxes out of cedar boards and we stained them ($3/table), I am filling them with olive branches form my grandma's backyard ($0/table), adding an artichoke ($1/table), adding votives I got from save on crafts ($3/table), and also bought a handful of roses to add here and there ($2/table), so my grand total is $9/table. There are definitely ways to make beautiful easy DIY centerpieces for a fraction of the cost.
