Average price of centerpieces?

Lauren, on May 20, 2015 at 9:37 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 47

Hi ladies! So I was just curious.... What do you think the average price of centerpieces is? Per table? My friends who are married already say no one pays attention to the centerpieces.... I honestly never noticed at weddings until we got engaged! We have round tables that will seat about 8 people probably expecting close to 23 tables. FH doesn't want to spend a ton on flowers that cost a lot and won't last. I can't say I blame him. I found lanterns that could be a cheaper way out without looking cheap. I bought some online but now I'm having buyers remorse. Also worried my florist will be upset with me but she said I have up to 4 weeks before my wedding to change my estimate. A long engagement is making me change my mind about a lot of wedding details... It's driving me crazy!

There are so many factors that go into this it's hard to give an average. Size, flowers, container, budget...Ours are around $65 each I think. For me it was easier to tell my florist "this is how much I'll need of each thing and here is my budget, what can you do?" If you want certain flowers then you can see what that will cost you. Or if you find a florist you like, bring inspiration pictures and talk with them about your options. But it's good to have a budget in mind first.

Erica totally nailed it. Most vendors are quite willing to work with you. Mine are included in our venue package (thank god), but I only have 7 different choices to choose from. Luckily we loved the whole mismatched tea cups with succulents look. So we're going with that. Probably going to put out a few in each table.... Maybe on old books at different elevations....

Low floral centerpieces $35 each (they double as ceremony decor on stands)

Lanterns can be really nice, I was going that route but these worked out since I already had them for ceremony.

Post a picture of the lanterns, maybe we all can help with suggestions.

I'm DIYing mine to an extent...got mini dried flower bouquets, some cobalt-colored bud vases, ribbon, white and orange pumpkins of various sizes, runners, gold metallic doilies instead of chargers, LED tea lights and votives, and DIY fall-themed napkin rings. It's coming out to about $40 per table (linens provided by venue), but I got really creative. I spent another $200 on centerpieces for cocktail hour (lanterns, tea lights, and vase filler).

    ETF: silly phone autocorrect.

Thanks ladies! I guess what she is charging me is about average then... It's $35 just for the flowers per table. She wants me to find 3 x 4 wooden boxes for them to go in which are hard to find and not very big at all. So we are averaging about $50 per table x 23 is over $1000 and FH doesn't want to spend that much just on centerpieces... The lanterns I found are $18 each but I want to add more to them like in the picture so it's just not a lantern and a candle which he thinks will add up to close what the flowers would cost us anyway. Ugh. I'm so indecisive and he's budget crazy. I'm trying not to spend too much but he just doesn't understand that's how much these things cost! I'm not that picky, I'm just really trying to find a rustic/barn look to match our venue and theme to still look elegant but not over the top. Maybe I can return half the lanterns and still use the wooden boxes I bought for the flowers so I can do half and half? I appreciate all this help!

Mine were very tall and very labor intensive and were quite expensive. I agree that it's really dependent on what you have done. Often times the non flower centerpieces are very cute and unique.

Well I don't know if you have your heart set on flowers, but flowers don't have to be in centerpieces. We're not having any, we're doing a collection of colored glassware on a mirror w/ some candles and they cost us on average of less than $10 a centerpiece. But I also really don't care for flowers, especially centerpiece-wise, so its a personal preference of mine.

You may be able to find other rustic elements without flowers or some silk/fake flowers are an option (if you don't mind fake flowers, again, personal preference)

I wish mine were included in the venue package! With out venue we only get the venue itself and the tables and chairs. It's not easy coordinating all the different vendors, especially them all being over an hour and a half away. Just praying everything comes together like I've imagined it to. I blame Pinterest! Haha

I just added everything up that goes into making my centerpieces and i am looking at $95 plus, OMG! i wish i hadnt just added everything up, i guess it not too bad when you look at all the tables because i only have 10 tables it will be around $1,000 so not tooooo horrible. my lanterns were on sale and were $39 from pottery barn (an addition to my budget as a gift from my mom because she wanted them lol)

ETA: i have 3 milk glass vases per table- i biught the vases- @ $18 each for flowers from florist, so $54 a table for flowers)

Oh wow Janeen that looked beautiful!! My heart wasn't fully set on flowers. I honestly haven't even seen what the arrangement would be she just named the flowers in the quote so I think that's part of the reason why I'm not in love with the flower idea. But I've always wanted sunflowers! It's just the expense and arguing over it with FH is stressing me out because this is the one thing we haven't agreed on. My friends say it's not worth it and no one remembers the centerpieces so I feel silly for even bringing it up or worrying about it but you ladies have helped so much so thank you!

Are you near any Christmas Tree Shops? That's where I found the ones I'm using for cocktail hour-- got them for $4.99 a piece. They're not on the website, but a store near me did a special order (since they only had a few in stock) and got them shipped to the store at no extra cost. It took less than 2 weeks. They have a bunch of outdoor/patio stuff now, so it's a good time to look.

So far I've spent around $100 total for 20 tables but I still have the flowers and moss to buy. That will probably be another $100-$200 depending on how heavy I go on the flowers. I haven't decided if I want an absolute ton of flowers or just some lol.
