At what point did you take your veil off?

C&S, on June 12, 2015 at 11:12 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

Im getting married tomorrow! Aaaaahhh! I'm not sure why this is on my mind, but at what point did you already-married ladies take your veil off? Right after the ceremony? Or did you keep it on for photos and first dance? I'm not sure what the "traditional" way to do this is. Thanks!

I think it depends on what length you have and what you want to do. I had a cathedral, I wore it on the limo to the reception and during pics then ripped that thing off ASAP after.

Wahoo congrats! I took mine off when the photographer left- it was an agreement i had with my mom bc when people are hugging you, it gets pulled. I did have a short veil so it was easy to keep in for most of the night. I would say once the toasts, dinner and dances are done you are safe.

I took mine off after the post-ceremony photos. It was falling off with all the people hugging me!

Yay congrats!! I'm planning on having mine on for ceremony and photos, but taking it off right before we enter the reception.

I'm doing a birdcage and planning to wear it before the ceremony for all the pictures, then through the ceremony, and ditching that thing immediately after.

I have an elbow length veil, so it shouldn't be in my way too much. I love the way the veil looks with the dress...so it wouldn't be weird if I kept it on for the first dance also?

I put mine in right before the ceremony and took it out after the first dance. That way I had it on for some pictures after the ceremony, but we also did a first look and pictures before the ceremony that I didn't have it on for. I was annoying when it got tugged every time someone would give me a hug.

I'll have to take mine off after the post ceremony pics - it's cathedral length, so it would get stepped on.

I wore a birdcage for the ceremony and a tiara for the reception. I wore the birdcage for all the pre ceremony pics (didn't see DH until the ceremony), the ceremony, and family photos afterward. I changed to the tiara right then before taking the bridal party pics and pics with DH. Then I wore the tiara the rest of the night. By the way, have an AWESOME day tomorrow!!

    Before the ceremony started.

    Thanks, wind.

I had a birdcage on a fascinator, and we wound that sucker up in the fascinator because of the crazy wind. Otherwise it would have been everywhere!

My veil was attached under my bun and really wasn't in the way. I had planned to remove it after the first dance but ended up leaving the veil in place all evening. If it had been a long veil I think I would have removed it but it was elbow length so it worked out.

I had a finger-tip length veil. Didn't take it off until we got to the hotel room.

I hope you have a fantastic wedding day, can't wait for your BAM!! I have two veils a cathedral and elbow length veil that I will wear together during the ceremony. For the reception I will take off the cathedral length veil.

I took mine off after DH and I consummated the marriage at the hotel room! I didn't get my dress off until after either lol. Mine was elbow length and didn't bother me at all

I think most people take it off when they bustle their dress, between the ceremony and reception. I am wearing a cathedral-length veil so there's no way I could wear it during the reception! My friend kept hers on during the reception (elbow-length) and it did look really pretty in her first dance and cake-cutting pictures (she just forgot to take it out haha). So I really don't think you can go wrong!

I wore mine for all of the before ceremony pictures and the after ceremony pictures. I had my mom take it off right after dinner though
