Are you paying off your vendors before the wedding or the day of?

Tiffany, on August 4, 2011 at 11:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 31

I'm trying to decide if I should pay off vendors before the wedding so it will be done and out of the way and I'll have one less thing to worry about, or if I should wait to pay them till the day of the wedding.

You mean you have an option?! Lucky you! Our vendors will come calling 30 days out, with the exception of the venue which is like 7 days prior or something like that. I'd pay them off before the wedding...one less thing for you to worry about the actual day of, where you'll have so much else going on.

The vendors are mostly detail vendors photo booth, transportation, and chair rental for outdoor ceremony. I'm thinking you're right, with everything else going on, who wants to worry about who gets which envelope and if they received it yet.

We are paying pretty much everything before the wedding because we get a big discount on interest...but the day of the wedding we will have a few hundred dollars to pay just for the final of everything, like any additional things we add the the menu and what not. I would try to pay as much as you can before the wedding, you will be waayyyyy less stressed out! Its already a relief knowing we will have it pretty much paid off by the end of this month!

I'm giving everyone cash, the day of the wedding. My venue however requires the rest of the payment the week before the wedding Smiley smile

I'd check with all of your vendors to see what they'd prefer!

All of my vendors are paid in full with the exception of the caterer, my hair stylist and my MUA- only because their stuff is really day of. But veue, photog, officiant- all paid!

We actually will only owe the caterer about $100 the day of...

And of course- we'll be handing out TIPS!

We are required to pay our vendors at least a week before the wedding. And I personally believe thats better one less thing to worry on the big day =)

Everything except our post-ceremony dinner at our DW will be paid for ahead of time.

A few of ours are 7 days but most are 30 and to be honest when ever we have the extra cash I make a payment. We are saving for air and the HM right now but I want to make sure everything is taken care of well in advance.

I have a few payments due on the day of the wedding. I will have the checks pre-written and pay the vendors on the wedding day. I'll probably have the coordinator give them out and I'm sure the vendors won't let me forget.

Personally, I don't feel comfortable paying earlier. If, god forbids, anything happens with the vendor, not paying them is easier than trying to get the money back.

I am paying whenever their due date is. If it's not until the day of the wedding, then I am waiting until then. I have assigned my dad to carry the checks and hand them over to the vendors the day of. We only have 2 that are due that day though. The rest all have due dates prior to the day of.

I'm paying before. I'm a high-stress person, and it would just give me one more thing to worry about.

I'm paying a lot before, venue is 45 days in advance, photographer will be paid off except for any additonal prints, DJ doesn't care either way, but will probably pay in advance so I can give him a check (he requires cash day of), caterer was okay with day of but that's our second biggest expense so I'm probably going to pay a big chunk of that bill a month before the wedding and just "settle up" the day of the wedding. Hair/Nails will get paid at time of service. I'm hoping to limit day of payments to just tips and any last minute additional costs.

The food and venue and alcohol will be paid after the reception (its not catered, its a banquet room in a restaurant) but everything else, MUA, photographer, etc, have to be paid 2 weeks inadvance for us. Its going to be interesting to get it all paid by the middle of october, but we can do it! I love Ramen noodles. Smiley winking

I'm with you - I have a lot of vendors that want the balance to be paid in cash the day of and it's a pain! I'm wondering if I can ask them if I can pay them by check say 2 weeks before the wedding. That way they know the money is there before the wedding day, but it also makes me nervous carrying around a lot of money the day of! Just in tips I'm already going to have to have $400 or so... then with the DJ ($725), limo ($350ish), etc... we'd be talking about thousands of dollars! I really don't want to be carrying around that much money in cash! (Also, if there's a check, then there's record of payment which always makes me feel more comfortable... I think I'm gonna be calling/emailing some of my vendors. Smiley smile)
