FH (M) and I met on June 11, 2004.  A good friend of mine, B, asked me to accompany her to a happy hour so she could see the guy she was interested in, and eventually married!  Begrudgingly I went, even though I didn't want to.  I was supposed to be in my hometown of Michigan for a wedding of another friend, but couldn't pull it off and didn't want to go alone.  FH and B's guy worked together so I felt like there was some familiarity and a certain level of safety.  M played it cool for a good part of the night, then when he finally came to sit down and talk, we really hit it off!  Surprisingly!  He really wasn't my type, BUT he was so funny, so smart, and had a great career.  We were all laughing because his hands are sooooo baby soft (I'm not complaining - I LOVE it!).  We discovered that we were both the parents of 8 year old girls (at the time) and that has been a great bond.  Thankfully the girls adore each other and now at age 15 will both be bridesmaids in our wedding.  M is so family oriented and we both come from similar family backgrounds.  He treats me like a queen, listens and supports me wholeheartedly.  He makes me laugh like no other....the deep, full body authentic belly laughs.  Honestly, we have been together ever since that first night.  It's been a crazy ride but so much fun.  I feel so blessed to have met him, and can't wait to publicly confess our love and commitment to each other in October!  It has been a long time coming!
