Are you going on your honeymoon right after the wedding or waiting???

wonderful moment, on December 23, 2009 at 4:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 42

I was wondering did you change your mind of traveling right after the wedding? Or did you give it a couple of months due to other reasons. I had my honeymoon all planed out until I realize the wedding is right around the corner and still need money for that. Since the wedding is more important to me we figure that we can go on a mini local trip close by and sometime next year either in the summer or fall take a cruise or go somewhere really nice. I know we are going to be very tight on money.

So if we can get away just for a couple of days him and I that would be great. And do our grand honeymoon a couple of months later. What are you doing?

I am trying to convince my fiance that because of my current job situation (I've been looking for about 6 months and if I do get one by the time we're married then I won't be able to take time off) I think we should take it later... he just really wants to do it right after the wedding.

Honestly, I would say that if you don't think you have the money for it right now I would wait. Like you said, you could do something small (stay in a close-by luxury hotel for a night or two, etc) and then do something later. I'm kinda thinking with all the stuff I am going to have to do after the wedding (thank you notes, name changes, etc) it would be easier to be home after the wedding to get it all done and THEN go on vacation maybe a few weeks later or something. I kinda think that if ur gonna have a honeymoon you should do it RIGHT (the works haha), so the money should be set aside for it. But that's JMHO... I say go for whatever you are most comfortable with

At first I had always say why people wait so long to take their honeymoon. It is suppose to be after the wedding, but now I realize that I was living in a fairy tale and understand that everyone situation is different. And that it is not about the where you go as long as you have that good quality time together and enjoy your first few days as newlyweds.

I agree Not-A-Bridezilla. If you are going to go on your honeymoon do it right. That is why I am saying a mini trip close by that we can drive a good distance no more than 3-4 hours. When the honeymoon comes I want to spend what I want to spend and just have a blast.

Our wedding is in May; however, we will be taking our honeymoon in mid June when I'm out for the summer. I teach in a public school and would rather wait until we're out as opposed to taking that time off in May.

We are waiting not b/c of finances, but for other reasons. Our wedding is an entire weekend event from Friday rehearsal to brunch sunday. We are looking to do a cruise, and as of right now the cruise we want doesnt leave on a monday. Also our good friends are getting married a few weeks after us, so we want to make sure we are home for that. So it will probably be a couple months after our wedding.

Initially we were planning on going on our honeymoon right after the wedding because he was supposed to go out to sea soon after. Now his deployment date is supposed to be getting changed and I'm going over on the wedding budget so I dunno how much I will be willing to put towards the honeymoon. On top of that, another guy on his boat is getting married the month before us and when he put in his leave request for 5 days, he was asked why he needed so much time. lmao WOW. We'll see what happens with that

We were married on saturday and flew out on monday morning. a honeymoon is also a time to relax after all the drama of wedding planning. its nice to have alone time with your husband after the stress of a wedding.

Wedding on Saturday, leaving for New Orleans on Sunday night/Monday morning (not sure which yet). My fiance is paying for the honeymoon so moving the departure dates is up to him, though I suggested we wait a year so we could go to some place more special and he was completely against it, so I'm sure he'll have the money by then.

Were getting married at the beginning of April on the 10, and my fiance starts school back up again on April 16 (he's Fall Spring track for college) so where going to stay in a nice hotel for a few days then head back to move into and set up our new apartment. My fiance served a mission for out Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), in Portugal so we are going to start saving up so we can go there for a couple of weeks in the next 5 years. Smiley smile

Well after the civil ceremony steven had to go to sea the next day so obviously couldnt go then. Now with the big vow renewal we still cant go because he has a 7 month deployment next year and he has to keep so many days of leaved saved incase of emergency. The new plan is a holiday once he gets back from the deployment.
