Are you going on your honeymoon right after the wedding or waiting???

I was wondering did you change your mind of traveling right after the wedding? Or did you give it a couple of months due to other reasons. I had my honeymoon all planed out until I realize the wedding is right around the corner and still need money for that. Since the wedding is more important to me...

I was wondering did you change your mind of traveling right after the wedding? Or did you give it a couple of months due to other reasons. I had my honeymoon all planed out until I realize the wedding is right around the corner and still need money for that. Since the wedding is more important to me we figure that we can go on a mini local trip close by and sometime next year either in the summer or fall take a cruise or go somewhere really nice. I know we are going to be very tight on money.

@Aussie, your situation is so much like mine... Being a navy spouse is rough. It's sad but I can't wait to get out because I feel that both of us being on active duty is a major stressor on our relationship. I think it's great that you 2 will be able to go during the next stand down... Mine will be at sea for the holidays

The plan is to go on the honeymoon 3 days after the wedding. We will see how that works out. I'm thinking we may have to wait until summer to do what we want, again, we shall see.

We are leaving the NEXT morning - ugh! We've decided on a 2 week cruise and cruises normally don't leave on Mondays... so we are high-tailing it to Puerto Rico on Sunday morning. I guess it could be worse, right? I just didn't want to go back to work and "be normal" right after the wedding... the day I've been waiting for. I wanted the "special times" to continue for as long as they can. Good luck to you and whatever you decide. I agree with JulyBride... "Good honeymoon- sexy lingerie, a room with a locking door, your man" ;-)

Our wedding is on a Saturday and we are leaving that Monday for our honeymoon. I wanted one day in between so we weren't so rushed to pack. Plus hopefully we can spend a little more time with our out of town guests if they have not left to go home yet.

My wedding is middle of April and I will still be in school.. I work at a hotel and so they are giving me and my FH a free room for our weddign night and the guests are all getting discounted rooms.. The plan for the honeymoon is to wait till June and then go to Europe for 2 weeks to visit his family and to have a nice vacation

A lot of couples delay their honeymoon for up to a year, for any number of reasons. Some of our clients have commented that they are really glad they took some time off between the wedding and honeymoon, as it gave them another great event to look forward to.

Most hotels and resorts will honor the honeymoon package for up to a year as long as you bring your certificate with you. And even if you decide to delay, there's no reason not to have a honeymoon registry so that family and friends can be a part of your honeymoon memories.

    Happy travels!

We'd both love to go right away to a honeymoon, but we're paying for everything ourselves so it might not be financially possible. Unless family surprises us between now and then we'll probably just grab a nice hotel room for a couple of nights and hold off on an actual vacation honeymoon. Not ideal IMO, but the wedding was a much higher priority for us.

We are renting a hotel the night of the wedding. and leaving for our cruise I think on the Monday. My FH is doing all the honeymoon plans so I am not sure If we are leaving on that Sun or Monday. We really can wait to have a honeymoon because I am starting back to college to be a teacher in August and he is taking a short class and then starting college back up in August too.

Keep in mind that a lot of places will give you the "honeymoon rewards" or "extras" only 30 days after your wedding date! I was shocked to find this out! If you want discounts on some packages that include dinners on the beach, spa treatments, they sometimes give you a discount if you're on your Honeymoon before it passes 30 days.

Honeymoon rewards huh???? Hmm... we were thinking of waiting a while after the wedding to go somewhere so we can save some money for the trip, but considering there are honeymoon rewards we may have to speed the time up just so we can save some money on extra perks.

We're waiting for the summer of 2011 since we will be getting married in October 2010, we thought the weather will be better if we wait to go to the destinations we want to go to Smiley smile. So, we'll wait about 6 months after the wedding.

That is nice. We had decided to just do a very small trip weather if it is 1-3 hours away for two- three days. Just in a peaceful spot. And than take our crusie maybe in August or fall.

We're getting married on Saturday afternoon and leaving for the honeymoon first thing Sunday morning.

Originally we had planned on an 11 night cruise around South & Central America. We would have been leaving a week after the wedding. But then some civil unrest broke out and we decided that we didn't want to get caught up in that, and we started worrying about leaving our business for two weeks, so we changed to a generic one week Caribbean cruise, so we backed it up to the day after the wedding.

I would have preferred to have a little time in between, but that's just how it worked out.

We're getting married on a Friday and leaving for our honeymoon that following Monday. I didn't want to have to rush right after the wedding to the honeymoon. I'm one to forget things so having to rush would just make things too hectic.

We haven't really gotten into talking about honeymoon plans that much. We would like to get a couple of days away and to ourselves but as much as I would like to get away, I also find the thought of being too far away from our young child to be very hard and possibly even more stressful. We need to find something nice and close and see if grandma is willing to watch the boy for a night or two.
