Are any of you checking the weather everyday till wedding day?

Val, on May 2, 2013 at 6:25 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 18

I know it's not possible to check 5 months from now but those of you who are having your wedding in the next few weeks, is that what you find yourself doing? lol..Especially if ceremony or reception is outside..I have 24 days left and i'm checking the 30 day one but i know it's not that accurate until like 10 days but you never know..I don't want to be rained on :-(

Haha I actually looked at past weather records for 10/19 in Sonoma all the way back to 1980! Lol...I will constantly be checking weather though when the time gets closer!

I did since we were having an outdoor ceremony too. At the 10 day point, there was a chance of rain. It kept increasing each day up to 80% or more. It totally poured ALL day and we moved it inside. Every other weekend in December was sunny and nice. Smiley sad

Luckily, it doesn't rain too much in May (AZ), so you should be fine Smiley smile

I also looked at the past weather records for my date. It had from 1982 up. I have a 49% chance it will rain on May 17th, and of that 49%, the average rainfall is .3 inches. I also know that the average temperature at 1pm is 73 degrees. I really don't know what that means for me, but I'm hoping I'm in the 51% of the days where it doesn't rain! :-)

So yes, come this time next year, I will be checking it about every hour probably! :-)

Absolutely! I cannot check that far out yet, but I will be. Farmers almanac will give you an idea three months out. And I have looked at weather during past September 7th in my area, but it has been so inconsistent!

I know I will be doing that! A good/ bad thing is that my ceremony and reception is all indoors so I won't get to take pictures out on the lawn of my venue if it rains, and I want to!!! I will be checking constantly as I get closer.

Umm I check the weather before getting out of bed in the morning so there's no doubt that weather.com will be up constantly the week before my wedding lol.

How do you check weather on a certain date from previous years?

Yeah, we knew December was risky. That's why we chose a venue with an indoor option. Originally it was going to be in my parents backyard, but that was too much of a gamble! Our OOT guests were kinda surprised...they thought Phx was always warm and sunny Smiley smile

I was obsessed. The obsession started like three weeks prior when we got a spring snow storm and got 12 inches of snow. I would check it several times a day at different websites. Checked the farmers almanac, you named it. The last time I checked it the day before the wedding, it say high fifties and 50% chance of rain. The day of ended up being sunny and got up to the low seventies, it was supper windy though. So windy that the guy's botouniers got ripped of their jackets, my veil got cought in a tree and later got ripped from my head!!

I definitely checked every day going up to the wedding. At first it was going to rain, and then as it got closer and closer, the weather got better and better. It was gorgeous the whole weekend! I wish the very same for you Val.

I refused to check the weather before my wedding date. For over a week people kept telling me the weather looked beautiful for our big day.... I just knew that if I looked at it, I'd jinx it.

I looked at the weather the night of the rehearsal dinner, just to make sure I wouldnt freeze in the dress I wanted to wear.

YES! I am 8 days away right now and am hoping to have my ceremony outside, so I've been stalking it for 2 days now (when the 10 day forecast reached my date).. FH keeps telling me to stop telling him the updates because it's too early and will keep changing a million times before next Saturday, but AHHHH! I can't stop checking!

Current forecast: High of 53 and low of 45 and cloudy (I'll take it! Cloudy is better than too bright and sunny, because then people aren't squinting in pictures! And the tempurate.. well, I wouldn't mind it being warmer, but we're getting married in northern Michigan.. we're just lucky if it doesn't snow or rain!) YAY!

Tomorrow is finally our day and right now it is SNOWING! Weather report tomorrow is for cloudy and rain. We've broken records for late snowfall this year and I have threatened to add an igloo at our reception to go along with the beach theme! No matter what the weather turns out to be, its going to be a perfect day.

I checked obsessively from about 14 days out. I stopped looking because otnkept saying afternoon thunderstorms. Well the whole wedding weekend was beautiful. We could not have wished for better weather. The morning ofit was very windy to the point tables were falling over (although I didn't know this until after the fact). Right before the ceremony the wind died down and everything went smoothly. Goes to show you never know.
