anyone NOT having an engagement party?

We haven't had one yet and we've ben engaged since this past x.mas. i wan't one but no one can afford it. my 17 yr old cousin just got engaged about a month or 2 ago and there having an engagement party for him this weekend. i want one but who know's if i'll ever get one? i was thinking of just doing a bbq with our close family and friends and call it a engagement party???

We aren't having one. Between his work and my work schedule plus buying our first home there is honestly no good time to have one. Plus we aren't the "party" kind of people so it's not something that appeals to us anyway.

Its nice but with everything else todo and on a budget we didn't have one. We can't even figure out if we are having a bridal or just a wedding shower.

We're not, nor a shower (unless it's a surprise). I don't even think I'm having a B-party either since my MOH lives 3hours away & my 2 BMs are my younger sisters, 20 & 18.

We're not having one. I never had any intention to. I was actually surprised to hear how many people have them. I mean, you already have the shower and bachelor(ette) parties and then the wedding. Isn't that enough? For me, it is, that's for sure!

We didn't really have one. Right after we got engage we had already had a trip planned with a bunch of couples to go wine tasting and after that it seemed silly to plan another party.

We're not having an engagement party. BUT, my gramma said that she is probably going to throw us a bridal party

We didn't and we won't... it's just ONE more stress bubble. We totally settled for the phone calls notifying everyone we're engaged.

Yeah, unless someone else wants to throw one for me, I don't think I'm going to worry about it.. Too much money and time when I could be worrying about the actual wedding. Plus, its been MONTHS since we got engaged so it would seem silly

We're not having one either. When we first got engaged his family talked a lot about having one but then it died down and frankly I'm already spending enough money on the wedding and I guess no one else wants to spend any either, lol!

We're not we got engaged in 2008 and the wedding is next year finally and since so many people know already we thought it would be a waste of time and money to tell them again and i'm still a lil undecided about the bridal shower

We've been together 10 years and engaged 5. I think we have partied enough! lol

I never had one, my parents took us out for supper to celebrate and ONE friend bought us a nice present, but thats was about it. Even when i asked my bridesmaids.... I just sent them a text casually asking. now that ive joined the wedding world I see that there were much more cleaver ways or doing that haha

No engagement party here. I think that the shower and the actual wedding is enough.

We're not having one either. No one offered and I didn't think it was really worth the effort with everything else I'm trying to plan.

My family never gave engagement parties but we had bridal showers. i doubt we will have one, although we had a mini barbeque on the fly with my sister. that satisified that i think. i would have thrown one at my house but FH is moving out of town like next weekend and there just wasn't time to plan, and my house is a mess.

I think its a waste of time and money. First the engagement party then the bridal shower and rehearsal dinner then the ceremony and reception? Way to much and most likely the same people will be in attendance anyway. If the families haven't met at one they'll met at the next one.
