I was just wondering since i don't remember couples doing that a few years ago. Is this a recent trend? My fiance doesn't see the need and i have to say im on the same page.

Not required but does your photographer include this in their package? It gives you a chance to get to know them better and have them know your angles and what types of pictures you like more.
We did ours and gave feedback on angles and certain shots of us that we like and did not like so she planned accordingly for the day of.
I love pictures so that's why I decided to do them. Also, I won both of my shoots in a drawing. I know a few people that did not do them. I think its completely up to you.
I am doing them as an audition for the photographer and because we don't gave any nice but casual photos together. It was only a little extra - 150 for 1.5 hours is nothing compared to a photography package for the wedding.
I don't think they're necessary, but we did them - and I'm so glad we did. We're both camera shy and it was a great way to get to know our photographer and warm up a bit. I'm sure it would have been fine, but we're so much more comfortable knowing what to expect from hijm on the big day.
We didn't do one. I don't have room in my house for the framed shots and we would rather have wedding pics. We are both over 40 and divorced. I did them with my XH in 1996.
We didnt do them. My Husband told me I will only get one day of good pictures out of him so I should choose wisely. He is horrible at taking pictures so I wasnt going to press my luck. Our pictures from the wedding that I have seen turned out great though!
We originally weren't going to for budget reasons. However a friend of mine encouraged saying it was pictures of us before the stress of wedding planning, before kids etc.
Ours was a little more to add on to our package so we did as we didn't have any pictures of us together.
I'm so glad we did. It helped us feel so much more comfortable on our wedding day. Also helped our photographer know us better. I hate cameras and pictures. Tend to dodge them whenever I can. After relaxing during our epics, our wedding day was a breeze and pics came out amazing.
Me and FH have been together for YEARS so we aren't doing one because of 1.budget and 2. With us our wedding is a very intimate wedding, but to each thier own, so whatever feels right for you and your FH.

I'm glad we did bc I realized our photographer was terrible and am not using her for the wedding
Like others have said- I never would have gotten them if they weren't included. However, I am really happy we did them. We have a bunch of cute photos not just in our wedding gear to use to put up in the house and we got to know our photographer better so we would be more comfortable on the day of the wedding.
It's mainly if you want to send save the dates with photos on them or engagement announcements. I'm doing it because I want romantic photos of us because we haven't had any professional pictures taken before. They'll be nice to frame and hang in the house!
I wanted to, but we have a really small budget as it is, my future stepdaughter took a really good picture of us after we got engaged and I used that one for our save the dates then we went to a wedding on Mother's Day and she took another great picture of us, so I'm using that one for invitations.
This is my second marriage. I did not do them for our first. I actually regretted not doing them. Until the marriage failed of course. It was a huge deal to me to get them done this time. When I hired my photographer it was included in the package pricing for the wedding. They turned out amazing. The invitation we picked out has photos on the back so we will be using some of them for that. We don't have many pics of is and this was a good opportunity to do so. It's one thing to regret taking them and have them. It's another to regret not taking them and no opportunities to go back and do it.
We are doing them because they were added into our photo package for the wedding! Apparently it's a good time to get used to being in front of the camera and also with your photographer
