Anybody NOT doing an engagement shoot?

LanaKane, on May 22, 2017 at 10:31 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 123

I was just wondering since i don't remember couples doing that a few years ago. Is this a recent trend? My fiance doesn't see the need and i have to say im on the same page.

    Nope.

Hubby's aunt took a bunch of casual shots, with her camera, and we chose one for our save the date. We had a one year engagement and I knew if we had any engagement photos printed/framed, we'd replace them with wedding photos pretty soon.

Since becoming parents, the baby photos replaced the wedding photos already.

In my family everyone does them, but we decided not to. It's not necessary and I wasn't comfortable with my body yet. Now we are so close, there's no point in an e-shoot.

We skipped it. I was too busy taking care of my sick dad to worry about engagement shots.

I was watching a movie set in the 90's a few weeks ago and the main characters got engagement pictures taken and I remember thinking that wasn't very realistic. And they were taken outside by a photographer and not in a studio. I feel like it's pretty recent but maybe not? My best friend got them when she got engaged in 2011.

Been engages for 5 years never did engagement pics cuz didn't want to spend the money and neither of us are big into posing for pics. We had alot of other stuff going on in our lives at the time anyway.

We're not doing any either. We took one photo for our announcement. I think the engagement shoot is just another plot for people to take your money that could be better spent elsewhere.

We didn't have one. We didn't really see the need for it.

We didn't do them. They seem way too contrived and cheesy for our style. My parents have an engagement photo from sears that my dads mom made them take and they HATE that photo. Maybe a disdain for engagement photos runs in the family?

We aren't either. It just wasn't at the top of our priority list.

We aren't doing them. We would rather spend that money on our wedding and honeymoon.

We weren't going to but our photographer offered at a huge discount to see if we liked working with her and the quality.

We just had a friend from church take some pictures of us right after we got engaged and she just charged us $50. They turned out so nice we decided to use them as our engagement photos.

We didn't. Always planned to but never actually got around to it. Now our Save the Dates are just a design and no pic of us, which is fine with me. I also wanted to put up a little collage of us at our wedding but I have a lot of pics of us (not professional) that I can use for that. I do have a Canon Rebel t5 and we decided I can take some E-pics of us. If they turn out good, we can throw them up on our wedding site or put a few up at our wedding.. if they don't turn out great, we won't use them publicly but they'll be something special for us to keep and look back at in the future.

We're both really not feeling it, so may opt out.

We did. Just had my twin sister take some. turned out beautifully, and the cost was zero. Just get a friend or better yet a family member to take some, you'll be comfortable and won't feel so rushed. Ours turned out wonderfully.

Ours was included in our photography package so we went with it Smiley smile It definitely made both of us a lot more comfortable being silly and romantic in the camera. So far, they've only been used as facebook profile pictures but will eventually be part of a guest book.

I wanted too.. just because we don't have many pics of ourselves.. lol but I ended up asking for more time from the photographer vs the engagement shoot. I still think about taking some, I have a great camera. Just need a family member that would be able to take the pics for us.
