Anybody NOT doing an engagement shoot?

I was just wondering since i don't remember couples doing that a few years ago. Is this a recent trend? My fiance doesn't see the need and i have to say im on the same page.

We didn't do them. We barely even have any good photo's together! But we also had a long engagement.

It's just an extra expense, but if you have the budget, then go for it.

Ours was included in our package for the photographer and even if it wasn't I would of spend the money on them because it's a special time and being able to get use to the photographer and their style beforehand was great

We just wanted some cute pictures for our save the dates. We had a friend take some pics of us in different areas. I love how they turned out and they were free.

Engagement photos have been around for quite some time (1999 for my previous marriage) I think you should decide based on your priorities and preference.

I wasn't planning on it and only got the elopement package from my photographer (three hours, definitely do not need all the getting ready, etc pics) but she offered to do complimentary engagement photos to be able to get to know us and help us be comfortable. I'm actually really excited about it and so grateful she offered.

If you can fit it in your budget, I would recommend it. If you're not used to having to pose for pictures, you don't want the first time to be at your wedding. It'll just be awkward. Plus it gives you time to get to know your photographer, so you feel more comfortable with them. I've also heard stories where people ended up not liking their photographer after getting their e-pics. So they were able to switch to a new photographer before ending up with wedding photos that they weren't happy with. Plus, can you really have too many cute pictures with your FH?

We didn't. We talked about it a few times but ultimately because we have a shorter engagement (7.5 months) it just seemed like too much. Neither of us thought we needed a bunch of engagement pictures and then a few months later have a bunch of wedding pics.

Nope. It's just not done much where I'm from.

We are only because it's included.. I'm not one for having my pic taken and FH is awkward at it at best.. so it will help with the wedding pics

We are just because they came included in the photography package. I didn't care initially but I am excited to have some nice pictures of us, but I wont be using them for STDs or invites.

Originally, we weren't going to do it. It was included in our photo package so we did it. We're using the pics for STD, our wedding website and guest book.

It was a really good way to get to know our photographer and learn how to pose. I'm not comfortable in front of a camera so it was a really good experience for me to practice.

We weren't going to do it either, but it was included in our photography package so we took advantage of it and thought of it was a way to get familiar with our photographer.

We skipped it. we have actual photos of him proposing to me, and those are enough for me. you can always dress up and have a friend take some quick pics of you two posed together.

We aren't doing an engagement shoot. To much going on and we are think we'd rather do a fun photo shoot for our anniversary or sometime after the wedding when things settle down and time is more relaxed.

Nope. Didnt do them. Our STDs were just a designed image. If my BFF still lived close, I would have asked her to do them but didnt work out.

We are not doing engagement photos. To each their own really. We are just going to use past photos we've taken so I deff see your point about how your wedding photos will just replace engagement photos!

We wouldn't do one if it was not included in our photography package!
