Any August brides in California

Jelmi, on May 2, 2020 at 11:10 PM Posted in California Planning 0 6
I am torn between postponing or keeping my original date. In California shelter in place should be lifted in July. Which is cutting it close to our wedding. Anyone else out there heard of anything or how it will play out if August is still on for weddings and how the guidelines of distance with one another will be. I would love to know before I change my date and push my wedding back even more.

Hi Jelmi! How many guests do you have on your guest list? And have you talked to your venue about Plan B and what postponing might entail? I'm hoping that by the end of May / early June it should be much clearer what August will look like!

Hi Jelmi! August bride here as well. Are you in Northern or Southern CA? I would suggest waiting it out until July. That is what our venue in the Bay Area is recommending.. I would also ask your venue if you're able to put a soft hold on a date later in 2020 or in 2021. I know venues are allowing that!

We just got off the phone with our wedding coordinator and she seemed optimistic. She said if weddings are allowed in August they are looking at ways they can safely distance people. Of course each venue is different, but for ours she said they are thinking of seating 6 people at a table instead of 10, all staff will be required to wear gloves and masks, and buffet style dinners will be served by the staff so there is no cross contamination.

I know it's so hard to tell what will happen by August! It's definitely a stressful time right now and I've wanted to jump the gun and postpone to next year many times but we are waiting it out. Our venue is allowing us to put a soft hold on a date until July 14th, and that eased our minds a bit. That way if August doesn't work out we at least have our back up date essentially locked down.

Wishing you the best and hope you get to go through with your wedding as planned!! xo

August bride here as well, the venue is allowing us to put a soft hold. My venue is in wine country, and I know there's far less cases and deaths there, so crossing fingers. Where is yours located (city wise)?

    Hello,
Our venue is requesting a 2k fee to change the date. We are torn. But I think we are gonna wait it out and see what happens. We are hoping for the best

    Hello,
Best of luck hope your wedding goes as planned.
My wedding is all up in the air. My city is los Alamos in Santa Barbara county in California. I’m overwhelmed with all this.
