Amazon and rings?

Hey everybody! So, FH and I aren't really in a good place to spend 100+ on an engagment ring for me right now but FH says he feels horrible for me not having a ring. So a friend of ours suggested getting cheap rings off of Amazon. Has anybody else done this or heard of anybody else doing this?

@michelle you turned it into a circus the minute you left your post trying to brag about your ring. Maybe it's just getting a little too hot in the kitchen for you

Michelle - In your own words, " I don't see the point in replacing it in the future or having a placeholder. I don't like cheap." That statement right there is condescending and looking down on others.

Michelle- can you post a thread about your wedding? Given what you paid for your rings and you don't like cheap things, I'd love to hear about your plans.

@Michelle No concern about your finances. Congrats on being one of the 1%. Unfortunately well-paying jobs don't magically fall out of the sky and the other 99% people in life have to make different choice. And when they do, some "advice" just isn't particularly relevant or helpful.

Oh, wait, almost forgot -- Smiley smile

Wow... who the hell goes into someone's thread and brags about how much money their ring cost??? That's such a horrible, narcissistic thing to do. Smiley smile

Mary love your comments! Get what you can afford. FH and I have gone through a few rings and I actually would prefer to wearing my Mom's ring, as it has sentimental meaning, I could give zero fucks about what my engagement ring costs.

$8k would pay for my medical treatments for 2 years....so yeah while we could spend more, my health comes first, not a large ass ring to make myself feel better than anyone. Smiley winking

@Michelle - no, the people here are not insane. You just don't like the dose of reality that you were given.

Michelle, just because you own a house literally doesn't mean a damn thing if you cant put food on the table and take care of things that need to be taken care of. While its nice you have a good paying job some of us have to take what we get and fight for what we have.

It seems like all @Michelle cares about are everyone's perception of her wealth. Maybe if you grew a conscience and didn't try to make OP feel bad we wouldn't act "insane"

What does owning a home have to do with an ering anyways?

Apparently having all of that allows class and dignity to go out the window. But it's okay.. because nothing was cheap.

@op I got a placeholder ring when we got engaged because we were 19. It was maybe $60 from Zales! It's sterling and white sapphire and has lasted 3 years! Just recently a stone fell out but it lasted a long time for what a klutz I am.

@michelle some people get placeholder rings because they don't have $8k laying around at the time of their proposal? Getting an 'upgrade' since we paid down more important things like college..

My ring is off amazon I love it. I couldn't be happier with it. And if he feels like he wants to get me a new one he can do it as an anniversary gift. Smiley winking

OP Etsy has a lot of options under $100 as well! If I were you I would look for something solid metal rather than plated.

@Michelle, my ring cost $250 and it looks real. Nobody can tell. Why hijack someone's post?! That's pretty shitty. Great, you have money!! Good for you *eye roll*

Uh... Did @Michelle just highjack OP's post to brag about all the money she has?

OP - Etsy has lots of cute options.
