Amazon and rings?

Hey everybody! So, FH and I aren't really in a good place to spend 100+ on an engagment ring for me right now but FH says he feels horrible for me not having a ring. So a friend of ours suggested getting cheap rings off of Amazon. Has anybody else done this or heard of anybody else doing this?

We used groupon. We bought FH's $300 ring for $20. It was the same as what we picked in the store. I'm sure amazon is great, but groupon was amazing this round.

I second Swarovski. They have some beautiful rings for $50 or so. I actually just bought two for fun and I love them... they were $59 each, if I remember correctly. I'm only wearing one today, the squiggly one was a gift from my mom!

I love my swarovski jewelry but don't have a ring, swarovski is beautiful but won't last forever. I ordered a fake ring of off Berricle for while my real ring is being dipped and am very, very happy with how it looks.

I can second the pawn shop thing as long as you don't have an odd ring size like myself that you can't find anywhere (a 4.5). You will find the most unique stuff that def has a story. Before FH and I were engaged I kept telling him to go to a pawn shop or something of the sorts if he ever proposed lol. He didn't but I like the idea.

The price isn't important. Honestly both of my rings and FH ring came from Walmart. We paid less than 200 for all three rings. My ering is a green amethyst. We love them.

We got mine from Amazon and used the 70% off filter and got a huge deal on my e-ring from an independent jeweller. It came with a GIA certificate and I had it appraised just to make sure we weren't duped. Every jewelry sales person has gushed over it.

Overstock.com is where we got mine. I work some where I didn't want to wear a "real" diamond. Mine is cubic zirconia and you can't tell at all. I get comments about how beautiful my ring is multiple times a day.

@Michelle, that is totally irrelevant and unhelpful for OP. I'd second Etsy over Amazon. I am a diehard Amazon fan, but for this type of thing, I'd trust the Etsy quality.

I got mine off Overstock. Very good quality!

As for Amazon, just check reviews and where it's coming from. Also look at the return policy. The more you know the better off you'll be!

@Michelle - I have a so called "place holder" because my e-ring had a major manufacturing flaw and had to be returned. My very expensive ring is now a $200 vintage piece and I am happy with it. Most people I know have gotten less expensive rings/diamonds and upgraded over the years instead of shelling out insane amounts of money for a ring in the beginning. There is nothing wrong with what the OP is asking for. You called it - high maintenance indeed.

@Michelle lol way to go in. Points for not even pretending to humble brag. Don't worry you'll get a hold of this whole giving advice and not bragging thing

I got my "honeymoon" set from Amazon and it was great. Looked nice, sparkled and I think we spent maybe $25 on it. For both an engagement ring and wedding band.

And? I personally don't like cheap things. I didn't say anything negative lol or bash worthy. Get what you can afford end of story Smiley smile

I've also seen in a few jewlers a section for consignment that's also a good option.

Amazon has some great options. but have you considered a pawn shop? sometimes they have some beautiful, unique pieces for very cheap!
