Hey ladies just a quick question, My step-mom and sister(MOH) are hosting my bridal shower and weren't planning on having any alcohol as they thought that was the norm. Just wondering if it’s tacky to have some champagne and OJ or wine as I thought it was customary to have a few alcoholic bevys at the shower! It's a Sunday afternoon so I'm just not sure if anyone will be offended if I pick up a couple items!

Thank you

We are having wine at mine (as it's at a vineyard / winery). Alcohol isn't a necessity for a shower but acceptable in my book. I haven't been to many showers but the last one I attended also had wine.

Some kind of fruity drinks are required. Have you ever sat through a bride opening 500 gifts. You can only ew and aw over a toaster so many times.

I think it pretty common to have some alcoholic punch. Things like wine or fruity drinks are okay too.

We killed 10 bottles of champagne and a half bottle of vodka at my shower. It was a brunch shower...mimosas and Bloody Marys. Good times!

We served sangria and tea and water and lemonade. Nothing wrong with a little adult beverage at a shower.

I don't think it's tacky but wouldn't really expect it honestly at the shower.

I'm actually a big fan of dry weddings--but even I would need several stiff drinks to make it through a bridal shower. LOL

I served champagne punch at my bff's shower and it went over very well. It was a Saturday afternoon, and everyone that drank had one glass, maybe two through the whole shower. I don't think it's bad at all.

I have been two bridal showers and they both had alcohol at theirs. Never heard of it being "tacky".

My girls have advised they are serving mimosas when they guests arrive for the shower. Light (white and red) wines will be served with brunch.

I can't imagine why serving guests attending a party/shower would be tacky. I would love it. I don't know if we will have alcoholic stuff at mine, but I hope so!

LOL @Julie A!! So true... I didn't want a shower, but I think alcohol would be much needed if I did (as long as people had DDs Smiley tongue ). I would encourage carpooling.

Hell no it's not trashy!! I had mine on Cinco de Mayo and there were margaritas everywhere you looked-it was awesome.

Edit: by trashy, i mean tacky...clearly I've already been drinking

I don't know why it would be tacky. Unless everyone's expected to body shots or something. The only shower I think it would be inappropriate to have alcohol at would be a baby shower! And that's only because the guest of honour can't drink it.

I was actually greeted at the door with a glass of champagne at a friend's shower last month. No one was boozed up, but it was nice to have a small glass. Some ladies made mimosas out of them too.
