Affordable winter wedding

Cynthia, on March 11, 2016 at 9:39 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

Hi ladies. I read that its much cheaper to have a winter wedding. But Im having no luck in finding cheap winter wedding packages for venues no more than 1 hour away from Bronx NY. Do you know of any such hidden gems that are less than 10k in the winter?

Unfortunately I can't help you with locations, but I will say that changing from a Saturday to a Friday or Sunday usually will save you a lot of money. So that's an option for you ask well to help get you in your budget.

I had a winter wedding, but only got off season discounts from a few vendors. Not all will offer an off-season discount.

I'm doing a Sunday in February and saving on the bar and venue. Any area near NYC is gonna probably be exorbitant though, that's just how the area is. Celia works in that area so maybe she'll have some recommendations. Have you looked at hotels?

It *can* be cheaper to have a winter wedding, although you may be competing with Christmas parties for certain vendors. Our venue is $1,500 less from November 1 - March 1 but that is the only price break we are getting. Flowers may also be more expensive.

I had to have our venue, so I booked for winter based solely upon that and not wanting to interfere with our summer activities.

I'm having a December wedding and got no break on vendors or venue. The only break my venue has is if you have a M-F wedding, which we definitely didn't want.

The price per head for my LI venue differed drastically on the time of year ...January and Feb were less than half the price per head for the summer ..which is y I am having a January wedding ...but it is still more than other places I've seen and vendors don't really discount based on season in my experience

My only break was from booking a year in advance

We got a huge break in the venues bottom line price and then another huge break because it's a Friday. $1,900 versus $7,500 and $4,500 food min versus $7,500 food min. That's been the only "break" we've gotten but my vendors do seem to be much more willing to wiggle a bit. For example, my MUA waived her minimum number of clients to travel at booking.

Also keep in mind that travel can be a lot more expensive during parts of the winter as well. If we left for a honeymoon right after the wedding, we'd spend the money we saved on the venue on the travel.

I'm getting married in December and I have no breaks on my venders but my venue is getting my a bit of a break only like $20 a head off. And it's also a noon-5 wedding

I was told that having our wedding on a holiday would negate any winter wedding discounts, however we received 2k off our venue and a discount on photography.

like pps are saying, having a Friday or Sunday wedding may cut you a break. A brunch wedding may also be cheaper.
