7 weeks until wedding and I break my leg!!

Jana, on March 13, 2013 at 2:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 33

So I was walking down the stairs last night and my feet went out from under me. I caught myself with my ankle and just found out the fibula and tibia are broken. The fibula is completely separated but the tibia is still together. My wedding is 7 weeks from this Friday, does anyone else on here have experience with broken bones? I don't want to walk down the aisle in a cast. Smiley sad

Never broke my leg, but has had a hair line fracture. Soo sorry that this has happened, what did the doctor, maybe they can come up with something...

I'm going to the orthopedist either tomorrow or Friday so I'll know more then. I may need surgery though.

Oh no!!! God bless u. Hope it's healed enough that u don't have to wear the cast down the aisle. That would be my luck that something like this happen to me right before my wedding. I pray and hope not.

IF it makes you feel any better...

I worked a wedding last summer where the groom broke his leg the night before! He was at home with his fiance (no funny business with his guys) and got up to use the bathroom, tripped over a dog toy and went down hard! He spend the night before the wedding in the hospital and his entire wedding drugged out sitting in a chair. I felt HORRIBLE for him!

I hope you are feeling better soon! If you do everything the doctor says you should be out of the cast before then. If you are worried talk to your doctor about it!

I think you should be fine. My HR lady recently broker her leg, same parts. As long as you went to the DR immediately and didn't put any weight onit before treating you'll recover fast. You may have to wear a boot or at least just plan on wearing flats. Don't worry!

Oh wow I feel so bad for you! Thats one of my wedding fears. But at least it wasn't the day before like the groom mentioned above! Hopefully you will have a fast recovery! Good luck!

Oh no! I can sympathize- I fell down the stairs 2 weeks ago and severely sprained my ankle. I am just starting to walk again but have little balance still. If it makes you feel better, they told me that I would have a better chance to walk down the aisle in heels if I had broken it versus this mess. And if its a clean break, 6 weeks may be doable. I would consider looking for easier shoes now though just in case and you arent frantically looking for some the week before in case you cant wear the shoes you bought. There is hope! Positive thoughts for a speedy recovery, fellow-stair faller!

Whatever you do listen to the doctor to recover from it. surgery may be better then a cast too. my friend had surgery 2 weeks before her wedding on her knee and was dancing like nothing happened. a friend of mine had ankle surgey beginning of march and is starting to walk without the boot. listen to how you are told to recover

That is awful. Hope you recover quickly.

Shortly before a friend's wedding, the groom's brother and best man broke his leg. They have lovely pictures of him in a cast with crutches and ivy decorating the cast.

Also my best friend's mother in law was in a car crash a few weeks before their wedding. She had to be in wheelchair for her son's wedding, but she made it and recovered wonderfully.
