4 Months to go to my wedding... is it too late to ask a friend to be a bridesmaid

I don't think its too late, unless she will have problems getting/paying for dress and accessories.

I would just tell her that you both decided to add another bridal party member and you'd love for her to be a bridesmaid

I'd suggest playing up on how much she means to you. "You're a fantastic friend, and I know I'm late, but I would love for you to be one of my bridesmaids. I was caught up on having even numbers, but I realized that having wonderful people standing up with me meant much more than silly numbers." Something along those lines.

And I second, make sure there's enough time for a dress, etc. And remember that she may still decline.

Yeah I would definitely first make sure she can easily get her dress before you ask her. If you ordered them from a bridal shop sometimes they take 4 months to get the dress in, could be cutting it close if she doesn't order it ASAP

As long as you know she has the means I dont think it is too late at all! I am sure she will be just as excited as if you had asked her in the first place.

It is not too late at all. I did the same for my MOH, I asked her 4 months before.
