I have hired Glorious Events as my wedding planner and the coordinator has agreed to do a "Sensible Chic" twist of planning for my small budget. When I asked her she loved the idea and even wants me to blog about the experience on Glorious Events website. So my question is does anyone know where I can find wedding design examples with pricing. I want to choose something that costs around $35,000 and see what she can do with 10% of the cost.

I interviewed planners, and the cheapest one I found that was even close to reputable was $1200. I can't believe that a planner that's any good would even consider working for $350.

There are ways to save money, but you can't get the look of a $35,000 event for $3500. Heck, $3500 barely covers a photographer and a DJ, not to mention a location or food.

I did a midday Saturday wedding (without dancing, so no DJ), saving every where I could. I price shopped, got an inexpensive dress, used coupons, and got deals left and right. I only had 27 guests, and I still spent over $3500 in one of the cheapest cities to host weddings in the country.

I'm not trying to be mean, but you've got to be realistic in your expectations. Something is going to have to give. You're going to have to cut corners, and with a planner- you may not be the one making the decision where those corners are cut.

Lol I'd take the buffet food over whatever is on that dish at the $35k wedding.

Kimi- I was trying to figure it out! I was like...is that some kind of salad with super long carrot strings? Hm...cucumbers are cheap and lettuce is cheap. I bet you can do that yourself! It might not look as good, but hey!

I fell in love with lettuce wedge salads from Longhorn! I wonder if my venue can do that.

    BTW-That's a huge effing cucumber!

My wedding planner is just starting out and she costs me 1200 dollars, and her DOC is like 500...I don't believe that your wedding planner is willing to work for only 10% of your wedding budget, even the wedding planners I talked to that worked that way it was only 20% of a wedding over like 45,000 dollars, which I can understand because at that price 4800 is just too cheap to plan such a luxurious wedding.... I say toll like most the other girls here...

On another note, if you really are a real bride like you say you are, I also agree with the brides that say you need to be realistic with your budget, when I first started planning I had it in my head I wanted a 10K wedding, but at this point in time I'd be happy to come out under 4 to 5k for the wedding, which includes my wedding planner in the budget.

Glenn, as I've told you SEVERAL times before I'm not using my school loans on the wedding, and we are getting an apartment and jobs in Anchorage...and she's 1200 dollars if I do her "full service" package so get over yourself and leave me the heck alone already...

I like it when people suggest being realistic, and then in the same post state that they're spending 25% of their budget on a planner. LOL

Exactly Analy, anyone who has a limited budget and wants to be realistic won't even think about hiring a planner.

@Briana. Did you GET jobs yet or are you still thinking about it? I lived in Anchorage and it seems to me that you could have capitalized on the tourist season that is now coming to an abrupt end.

Fins we are using our dividends to GET us to Anchorage being we do not have a way to get up there for interviews so we will get a place to live (which our dividends will pay for at least 4 months of rent and such) and be getting jobs after we get up there, we were never just "thinking" of getting jobs, we were actually planning on getting jobs, we just need to get up there first because it's pretty much impossible to get a job if you can't go to the interview. I know the tourist season is over, but the job market in Anchorage is still very vast(from looking on craigslist), and last time I was up there almost everywhere we went there was a help wanted sign up, I feel that it will not be hard to find jobs once we get up there.
