I have hired Glorious Events as my wedding planner and the coordinator has agreed to do a "Sensible Chic" twist of planning for my small budget. When I asked her she loved the idea and even wants me to blog about the experience on Glorious Events website. So my question is does anyone know where I can find wedding design examples with pricing. I want to choose something that costs around $35,000 and see what she can do with 10% of the cost.

Amount of information needed > Amount of information shared.

Briana, someday you will realize that it is because of your over sharing that you get grief. Some of the WW brides are like elephants, they NEVER forget. And it is hard to come back from a post about living in a tent and using your student money to pay for your wedding. Those weren't terms that we came up with on our own, those were things that you DIRECTLY said. You get very hostile and then you start oversharing which only brings on more banter.

That being said, Toni, I love the dress in the photo (It's the same exact dress I had) and I say planning is easy, you don't really NEED a coordinator but a DOC would be FAHBULOUS. It's hard to stress about where your chairs are or who's getting the groomsmen his shoes when he can't find them. Stress shows and on your wedding day, you want to at least appear to be stress free!

I find it funny that I'm doing what you guys told me to do MONTHS ago, and yet it's still a bad decision, would you rather me just live on the streets with it threatening to snow any day now?? would that be a better decision than getting a place to live so we can get jobs? I'm not even thinking about the wedding right now, it's over a year away, obviously not my TOP priority...

@Brian - I did note the great feedback I saw in my first post. I'm sorry if that got lost in the thread.

I am simply relaying the message that just as people are more than welcome to post what they please, they are just as welcome to remove themselves from any conversation. No one really needs a reason to do so.

Briana, it does appear you are in better shape than you were months ago, but that doesn't mean you are making the absolute best decision possible. Please remember we are just trying to help.

Also, please remember Brian has a lot of psychological experience and education, by nature shrinks' questions come off as condescending Smiley smile when really he's just trying to make you think.

Ultimately, do I want you to move out of your mom's house and be on your own? Absolutely, but I don't want you to move into a place that is unsafe and that's the first thing i would think of when a place wasn't looking for your paychecks or some other form of salary confirmation.

Glen I have been looking and thinking about all summer long and the only way I can see me and FH getting jobs in Anchorage without having to live in a hotel(cheapest one I found was nearly 1000 a month) or on the street is by living someplace unsafe for a bit till we get jobs and can afford to move out, the place I have been interested in is actually in a better part of town and seems to be a newer place, not to mention they have really reasonable prices (750 for a two bedroom), and I'm going to call them next week to see if I can't work something out about the whole paystub thing, not everyone in the world are heartless and stubborn like most. I have the feeling that we can find a place on the promise of finding jobs as soon as we get up there, even if they only pay minimum wage (7.50 an hour) we should be able to survive on our own until FH gets the slope job he wants or till I get out of school and get a job in my field of study. I'm trying hard to be independent and living

In my moms house is just not healthy for me, I've been overly stressed and it has been making me sick, so I feel I need to just get out of her house and on my own and hope things start to get better not being under her roof anymore, even if the place we get isn't in the most ideal part of town, I can live with that for at least six months till we can get enough job exp to be able to get a place in a better part of town...

Wait...isn't this thread about Toni trying to plan a $35k wedding with $3500? :-)

Briana-You do realize that this is the internet and you don't have to justify your decision to strangers right? You do you and what's best for you. You can take the advice or ignore it, but you don't have to keep defending yourself to people you don't answer to. Stop over-sharing!

Analy you can take it however you want to, but I'm not playing the victim, I'm merely stating how I see things when I'm being ganged up on and being treated like nothing I do is good enough...

I give up, I was trying VERY hard to be nice, something that doesn't come easy for me, I guess I'm one of those "heartless and stubborn" people. I would never EVER rent a place to someone without verifying their income, but that's just me. I worry that you are going to get yourself into a place where you aren't safe and I hope for your sake you aren't, but at this point you can't even take advice that's trying to help you as anything but negative and I agree with Analy's assessment.

Exaclty what Glenn just said. I personally would be questioning a place that didn't ask for paystubs and being able to confirm employment, I would be concerned for my safety. I don't know what the heck I was thinking when I was with my ex, come to find out he was a horrible person that had zero values or morals. Right before I broke up with him, I went to see where he was living, and it was not a good place at all, my ex told me that all the guy that owned the place asked was that the rent got paid every week, he didn't ask for confirmation of employment or anything, the place itself wasn't a dump or anything, it wasn't horrible living conditions but they weren't great either. I defintiely wouldn't want to live there, the place gave me the heebie jeebies. I found out through one of his family members drugs were being sold out of where he was living. Just keep that in mind, for yours and FH's safety.

Oh! I just wanted to say that there are landlords out there that will rent to you without having a job. They still want to verify some type of funding. My ex had over $500k in bonds and CD's and he didn't have a job. All his landlord wanted was proof of that money and he was okay. He lived there for a year before he even got a job.

Glenn I wasn't taking you as negative, I was just stating that at this point in time living in my mothers house isn't healthy for me nor her, and I was stating that some people aren't going to kick me to the curb because I'm moving from a poor(I mean that literally) fishing town on the peninsula of Alaska to a big city without the means (transportation to and from Anchorage several times in a row) to get a job without a place to live up there and will be willing to work something out with me to at least get me a place. I know there are people like this because other wise my mom would have never moved to Hawaii in the 80's nor would we have moved to Arizona in the 90's because she wouldn't have been able to get jobs without being in those states first...

Off topic of the off topic thread Miss Tattoo? ;-) THANK YOU!!! I love it too :-)

This is a completely futile effort.

Briana--until you change your frame of mind and start thinking that you deserve more, you are not going to get more out of your life. You need to think positively that things will go better and they will start to change.

Brian it wouldn't be an IOU, it would be a place to lay my head that isn't a park bench with snow falling on my head for a month or two while FH and I find jobs, and I can't just drive the 3 hours to anchorage for an interview, if we had our own vehicle we would but it's not on the top of the priority list, jobs and a place to live are, and honestly I grew up in a place that didn't ask for proof of income, and it wasn't that bad, yea it had it's share of "not-so-nice" people but it wasn't BAD, there were no drugs being sold to kids, and there weren't people getting shot in the alleyways... I planned on going up and looking at apartments after I call up there to ask what is needed first, and when I go up there i will be applying to places such as walmart and such that I can apply to online easily and hopefully have interviews while I'm up there. I just can't afford to drive up there every other day or so for an interview, not to mention I don't think my moms car could handle that stress

Rae I have been thinking that way trust me, but it's just hard to do when people are just telling you nothing you decide to do is good enough, or a good enough decision to them. I hear the advice being given, trust me I do, I just don't see any other way to do things right now, especially without a reliable mode of transport to and from anchorage for interviews and then trying to get up there for work everyday after I get job till I can find a place to live...
