Good luck! It is a diet challenge or an exercise challenge? Don't let this get you overwhelmed, be gentle and patient (and forgiving if needed) with yourself. What else do you have left to do, can we help? Are you using a checklist to stay on track?

I'm with JoRocka. This is tremendously stupid and will only put more stress on you which could cause weight gain instead of loss.

Love your body how it is now. Make a lifestyle change, don't take on some trendy or fad crash diet.

It's a 30 day exercise and clean eating challenge. I have meal plans, shopping lists, and video workouts - I don't even have to go to the gym :-) I'm on day 2 and I already feel great from eating so clean. And the recipes are delicious!

It's called the Mommylicious Challenge by Flavia del Monte. I've done some of her programs in the past, and they are awesome.

    Hi, weekend twin!

I'd love to hear more about what you're doing! I did really well with eating healthy but then work stress and shower food got the best of me. I planned a shower for my FSIL and then my own shower resulted in leftover cupcakes. I haven't loved how all the extra sugar has been making me feel and am ready to get back on track diet-wise.

ETA: just saw your update. I'll look into it!

Let's hold off on passing too much judgement until we know what kind of challenge it is! There are lots of dangerous and unhealthy challenges out there, but there are also some great ones! If this is a crash diet then of course this isn't something I'd encourage or support. But if this is an exercise challenge like a 10k steps a day challenge or one of those 30 day abs challenges or a yoga pose challenge, I think it could be a fun way to do something positive and fun for your health while relieving stress.

ETA OP beat me to it! I don't know that plan, as long as you're getting the nutrition you need in a safe way, that's what's important. Do your research, see what nutritionists say about the plan, maybe have a doctor look it over to ensure it contains all the nutrition you'll need. Basically, OP, we just all want you to be happy and safe!

    Dear god.

    So a few things:

1.) 30 days is barely enough to make a dent in your body composition.

2.) if you DO significantly impact your body- what are you going to do about fittings.

3.) why didn't you start sooner?

4.) what are you going to do afterwards

5.) what are you going to do when you start loosing weight (which is possible) then your dress doesn't fit?

6.) what happens if you get it altered to fit the new you- then you miss the last 15 days because you're busy for the wedding and then you gain back the water weight and now your dress doesn't fit you?

7.) why the fuck do you think this is a good idea?

The woman who designed this challenge is an RN, certified nutritionist, and personal trainer. It's definitely not a "crash diet" - it's more about clean eating, in the right combinations, detoxing a bit, and exercising the right ways. This one in particular is designed for moms who have had major hits to our metabolism from having kids - and all the workouts are something you can do in less than 30 minutes, at home. This works so well for me with having 2 kids and planning a wedding!

For example - today I started with my vitamins, then 20 minutes later I drank a "detox drink", which is purified water, lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. For breakfast I had a "Very Berry" protein smoothie, for lunch I'll have mayo-free tuna salad, and homemade hummus with carrot sticks. Tonight for dinner is Fajita Flank Steak and Veggies, with a workout in between. It is a full menu, I'm definitely not starving myself!

A challenge to me, a figure athlete, is increasing weight on my squats. Those challenges are meant to make the originator some cash. If you are not where you want to body shape wise at this late date it is not going to happen in 30 days. JoRocka and Lilly are absolutely right. WWJo I respect your take on this as well but there are way too many MLM based 30 day challenges that are used to gain people's information so that they can be manipulated into the sceme.

@JoRocka - I haven't gone up a size in clothes at all, I'm just trying to tone up. I talked to my seamstress already, and she left the top seam open just in case we need to take it in again, but my dress is a ball gown and my focus is on my legs and glutes, which won't affect how my dress fits.

I didn't start earlier because the actual challenge started on May 14th - you do it along with a group of moms and Flavia herself to stay accountable and get support. Afterwards, I'll keep using the same recipes and workouts in a rotation, or I'll do a new program.

For me, this is a good idea because I'm lethargic, my clothes aren't fitting right, and I don't want to go on my honeymoon looking and feeling the way I do. I'm one of those people where the more I do, the more I get done - and eating healthy and working out motivates me to get shit done.

@Svetlana - this is not an MLM company lol. But you are highly misinformed about that industry. This cost $47 - yeah I'm sure she made a ton of cash LOL

I say go for it if you normally do programs and this wont add anything to your life you aren't already doing.

But 40 days before the wedding is kind of last minute - you wont really get a whole lot of results, so I hope you're not hoping for anything drastic.

Now one 30 day challenge I can get behind is the Whole30 - but only because its meant to kickstart a lifestyle change, you're not done with it after the 30 days

@Svet that's totally fair, as I said I'd never support a crash diet! All the "30 day challenges" I'm familiar with are almost exclusively exercise challenges you can do at home, for free, and for fun, like the examples I listed. I've done 10k step challenges with coworkers and crunches challenges with DH, and I find them to be a lot of fun, and of course they are safe for me to do. I think this thread demonstrates we all have very different experiences as to what a "health challenge" means.

I'm not saying the program isn't a good one- I'm sure it's fine.

But choosing to do something different a month from your wedding is just a really bad idea.

"do nothing new" about a month out is a really good rule of thumb.

But you know- good luck and all.

I'll be careful starting a new diet/workout plan so close to your wedding date. As mention above- there can be some weight gain/loss and you probably had the last fitting or the one before and the pick up your dress. I am a marathon runner, and drinking a "detox drink" or changing meal for a shake it not something I'll never do. I believe in eating wholesome meals. My point- be careful!

I completely respect your choice to do a challenge. But just before your wedding when your stress is at an all-time high is the worst time to do it. Again, it should become a lifestyle change not something you do to look skinnylicious in a bikini for your HM. When the challenge is over and you're not keeping up with these things, you will bloat and likely gain again. Either increase your 30 days to cover your entire HM or don't do it at all. Otherwise it will backfire on you and you won't enjoy your HM as much if this was that important to you.

Olivia-.... ish- I mean- you can. but it's significantly harder and won't come the way that most people train with body weights.

www.strenghunbound.com- he's a guy on one of my other forums (well two actually) and he exclusively trains body weight.

    But it's progressive.

    And it's fucking hard.

People doing 30 day squat challenges aren't going to get there.
