But I do believe is good to just chill with it and do it slowly rather than hurrying it up... And you also grow as a couple during this time! So congrats we are good on our way there!

I feel ya! We got engaged Christmas 2018 and our wedding is 10/03/20. So far we have just booked our venue and nothing else. Since we got a package deal we have to pick and choose vendors but we haven’t done any of that because I feel like it’s too early. I’m bored and want to do more things. We only booked it out so far because we wanted to save up for it.

We got engaged in January of 2018 and will be getting married in January of 2020. We spent about 6 weeks kicking ideas around for what kind of wedding to have, and decided to get married on a cruise ship. 35 people have been invited and we are responsible for the cost of 10 of the 13 cabins. Thank you, God! that we had that long to save up! I have already spent well over $20,000 and I am still short another $10-$12,000 and I haven't even bought my dress yet!

It was easy for us. I was super excited and from where we started to where we are now, everything is pretty much planned out. We just have to wait to start making payments. The only thing we can't do right now is book our flight but we're also still saving up for the Airbnb. We decided to elope in Hawaii with immediate family and then have a dinner reservation. So the planning is just about done. I couldn't help myself but at least now I don't have to worry about it.

We have a 20 month engagement. We've been engaged for 3 months now and i've already booked venue (caterer is with venue), photographer, dj, and videographer. Right now we're on a "pause" to enjoy being engaged since I jumped into high gear. HOnestly , I'm really enjoying the low stress and planning in pockets. Next big thing is Pre-Cana (Marriage counseling through the church) in May. June I will be dress shopping. And then A nice Pause again until we're 1 year out.

FH and I view it as enjoying this "being engaged chapter" Like others have said, enjoy this phase of building your relationship and building new traditions as a couple, don't just focus on the wedding because it will come and go. Focus on this engagement chapter as it's a once in a lifetime thing. Smiley heart

It is so good to see couples going through counseling Christian or not. It's very important in my opinion. And yes I am enjoying all this, all of him... I'm happy to be honest but I want to do at least one thing but since we don't need a venue or anything long term like that I feel like empty handed ya know.

My engagement is less than 10 months and I have to say, if it weren't for the date of the wedding being so significant to us, I would have pushed it back. Don't get me wrong, I am so so so excited to marry my FH however, planning has felt rushed, pressured, and all in all the most time consuming thing I have ever done. I would 100% have given myself more time. I love the vision I have created for our day and I know it will turn out beautiful but it has been so stressful that I have to force myself to stop and enjoy it. So although I am SURE you feel ready to marry your FH, enjoy the planning process and your entire engagement period!

Our engagement will be nearly two years long. Sometimes I want the wedding to hurry up and get here (actually all the time), but what really keeps me going is thinking of our finances. Because we are having a long engagement, we are able to save more money and are able to afford the wedding that we want without digging ourselves into a financial hole. Paying for thousands of dollars worth of goods and services is much easier to do over a couple years than a few months!

That is one of the reasons why we decide a long engagement too! But I get sooooo discouraged sometimes since I can't do anything because we don't even need a venue and it's not a big wedding or anything but we need like a significant amount of money to make it more special to us and reflect our personalities.... Mind you, is gonna be a small wedding on a courthouse and reception in my sister's garage! But we are paying for all of it hence we have to save more than what we already have. And the additional things we have to save for!!! So yeah I'm happy with waiting.

Hi Lizbeth! I'm in the same boat as you...two year wait and pretty bored. I was planning on starting to buy some of the smaller wedding items little by little starting this summer. I see lots of Amazon shopping in my future! Smiley tongue

So I got a phone call from the lady who is charge of booking our venue and there is an issue. It's a municipal building and we set it up for Friday May 21, 2021. When you rent the building you get it for the whole weekend so we planned on having it from Thursday 5/20 thru Monday 5/24. She just recently started working for the city so she thought that we could do that but she just heard back that we can't. You can only do Friday through Monday rentals so we need to change our date and get back to her by next week. I loved our 5/21/21 date. Smiley sad

When we got engaged we both agreed to wait a couple of years. We wanted to buy a house first but here in Washington that has become impossible. It was VERY discouraging but until one day we decided it was time and we booked our venue last October (we marry in aug) and then it all for real and now I am regretting doing it! I wish I would have listened to basically EVERYONE and had just done a tiny ceremony with only family and save all that money
