Hey brides!

Concerning long engagements, like 2 or more years long....

How do you not get discourage?

What has made you keep going with planning in a slow pace?

Tell me all about it because I'm discouraged and I'm kinda sad is in a month and two years like... I'm done planning all there is to plan!!!!!

We got engaged Jan 2017 and am getting married next month (ahh feels so good to say that lol). I honestly didn’t start planning until about a year out. We knew basic stuff like what colors we liked and stuff like that but we didn’t book our venue until April 2018 and everything went from there.

April 8th was 2 years of being engaged for us. But our wedding is 2 months away. Honestly it's nice to give yourself time to figure out what you want and save up money.. its was less stressful for us compared to my cousin who planned her wedding in 8 months! But I understand where you are coming from. It seems like it will be forever until its your wedding day.

We got engaged May 2017 and are getting married June 2020. It was a slow start, but by July 2017 we had venue and colors picked and started throwing around ideas for other stuff. After that I kind of just gathered quotes from a lot of different places and dint book anything until 2018. In 2018 we stated booking places and worked on who we wanted to invite and I got my dress and started some DIY stuff but I work a full time job and a part time job so doing anything during the week was not a thing lol. Come this year, we have all of our vendors booked, most of DIY stuff done or in the works, guest list pretty much finalized, STDs and invited ready to be ordered and pretty much everything in the works of being completed. My plan is to have EVERYTHING done by the end of the year, except dress/suit fittings and day before things like mani/pedi and rehearsal, so we can enjoy the parties and all of our friends and family who will be around come 2020.

We will be engaged just under 2 years (22 months). I got all the big stuff done early and collected things for DIY STDs and centerpieces here and there but for the most part, once the vendors were all booked I just took a break and focused on building our relationship for about 9 months. Now that we are down to 6 1/2 months its back to "high gear" although I feel like I've already got a lot done. Once the 1 year mark hit, I mad a notebook with 3-4 tasks to complete each week. If I don't have anything or have already done it, I plan a date night for FH and I instead of a wedding stuff night for me while he plays video games with the boys. I don't feel burned out and once you hit some of those big markers (365 days out, 200 days out, double digits) the excitement definitely starts coming back although... sitting at 208 days right now it still kind of fells like it'll never get here.

Our engagement was Oct 21, 2017. Our wedding date is July 4, 2020. About 2 1/2 years. We did this because we knew we wanted to buy a house and meet other goals before the wedding.

At first, I just went online and looked at dresses and venues for fun. I contacted a few venues to get ideas about pricing. Then I let it go. I had an idea about the budget and the things I wanted. I focused on other things. Working to save money, buying the house, living life.

At a year-and-a-half out, I started really planning. Visiting venues, phone interviewing photogs, planning the flowers and decorations, etc. It's good to have a headstart on things. I have more time to pay for everything and decide on options to make the day unique. I plan in spurts now. Research, pay for something, book something, put a deposit down... then take a break to save up money. It's great! I don't know how people do it all in the matter of a few months without going broke.

    Exciting!!!!!!

I am actually working on my relationship now after a month intense with planning and me being overly excited, so i am taking the time to chill for a few months before going back to the planning and hopefully getting stuff in sales and all that good stuff.

That is one of the reasons we decided on a long engagement. I just got a second job so that i can manage more easily our monthly bills and all that and being able to save a good amount of money for the wedding budget.

Got engaged January 2017. Getting married October. In that time we bought a house so that helped fill up a lot of time. It seems long but it comes quick. The cool thing is we had a chance to sit back and celebrate and enjoy being engaged

We will have been entire almost 3 years by the time the wedding comes around. We’ve been planning for about 6 months though. Life happens and we just now got around to it lol.
