  James is the most incredible photographer ever!

  James Rubio is absolutely the best photographer ever. We honestly cannot believe how incredible our photos turned out - what a very, very talented individual. We went to the Big Island and got James to take our photos. We are SO pleased. (If you didn't already see, check out his instagram, which has so many awesome examples of his photos.
  
  First of all, communication was great between him/his team and us. Super friendly and helpful leading up to our trip to Hawaii.
  
  The photoshoot itself was a ton of fun and full of laughs and I can certainly say that James is in a class all of his own. He made us feel so relaxed, and captured such sweet and loving moments between my husband and I. When we got the photos back, we were shocked by how many we absolutely LOVED. It made us reminisce about our honeymoon and immediately brought back all of the great memories.
  
  The photos were artistic, unique, and beautiful...and really showcased those loving moments for us. If you want a photographer who will capture the best possible moments in the most beautiful way, 100% go with James. He is the absolute best and worth every penny!

  Captures Hawaii’s Colors and Beauty

  James is an incredible photographer who captures every color and makes it pop in his photos. Having our wedding in Hawaii, that is exactly what we were looking for. He has an eye for scenery and his photos show all of Hawaii’s beautiful colors with such vividness. It rained during our wedding, yet our photos are still breathtaking. We are so thankful he was our photographer.

  James Rubio's Photos are simply amazing

  My wife and I heard about James through her sister who used James on her wedding almost a decade prior. We saw their photos and were blown away with how creative and beautiful they were. Needless to say we immediately booked him for ours. He did not disappoint I'm happy to say. The photos were original, unique and simply amazing. We will look back on the memories he captured forever and be able to relive the magic of that day. I can't recommend him enough to anyone in Hawaii considering a photo shoot in general (wedding or not). You will get something truly unique and in my view - beautiful Art. Thanks James and team - you were amazing. Sorry it took so long to write this review :)

  Incredible Photographers!

  James and Bev were an absolute pleasure to work with. They were so professional and really captured the essence of our wedding. We feel so fortunate to have had them join us on our big day - they even waived the flight fee as we were getting married on O'ahu!
  
  Now for the photos...the photos turned out even better than we had imagined!! If you are looking for a photographer - no matter the type of event I would hands-down recommend James and Bev! They are the best photographers I've ever worked with and you will not be disappointed! Not only great photographers but great people as well. We can't wait to work with them again in the future!

  We cannot say enough good things about James and Bev and their work!
  My fiance and I planned a pre-wedding honeymoon back in march in Hawaii and took the opportunity to have our engagement pictures taken over there. I was a little apprehensive with working with someone without even meeting them beforehand but both James and Bev are amazing. Initially we had no idea on where to take the pictures, it was our first time visiting Hawaii, and they not only helped us to pick a location but had the most patience with me about changing places and time and everything. Bev is such a sweetheart, she was the one I had the most contact with, either through emails or text/phone calls and James is the artist.
  Our pictures turned our amazing and everyone we show them to love them. We couldn't be happier and more in love with the photos!! If you are looking for an amazing high quality and professional photographer in Hawaii, James Rubio is the perfect choice.

  Bottom line, James is fantastic. From our first conversation to our last, James has been absolutely amazing. Friends and family will always compliment your photographer and their work because that is their job. However, we've received hundreds of compliments from family, friends, strangers on social media and even from printing sources on the work that James (&Tracy) &Bev have done. It's truly a testament of genuineness when people go out of their way to pay you a compliment. We had nearly 800 photos from our 6 hour wedding session and from our day after underwater session, and EVERY.SINGLE.ONE of the photos are awesome. As the bride and groom it's easy to say that we are a little biased because it was our wedding, so each photo has a special meaning, but that being said, each-photo-has-a-special-meaning. James was able to capture the true emotions and energy of our wedding to create those special meanings. People will always want their standard shots, stare at the camera, smile on 3, and you should get those, but trust us when we say "just have fun and let James do the work." Our favorite photos are of us looking at each other laughing, having fun, living. On our first conversation with James, I asked him about underwater photos. He had done a few sessions but said that he would deliver and boy he was not wrong. I followed him on instagram and saw that since our convo he had been practicing and snapping some amazing pictures. Don't be shy to ask him for what you want and be upfront. He is absolutely willing to take on a challenge. Despite salt water, tides and treading water with my dress and train flowing, James was able to capture our adventurous side and deliver some extremely romantic pictures with some AMAZING light. We can't say enough about James and his crew. His down-to-earth, wholesome personality & his insanely talented abilities made such a positive impact on us, not to mention, we have 800 amazing photos that capture that special moment forever

My husband and I had a very small wedding in the Waipio valley on the big island. James and Bev answered all my questions in a timely fashion and worked with our wedding planner to give us exactly what we wanted. James was willing to hop in the Jeep and go down to the black sand beach for photos after the ceremony. He knew all the right spots to get the best shots. Our pictures are priceless. We had no concerns regarding the time it took to receive our photos. We received an email with a photo montage set to music that James put together for us. Then we received a thumb drive with all of our photos. James and Bev also gave us a private link for family and friends to view the photos and purchase those they would like. We just couldn't have asked for a better experience or a better photographer.

  My husband and I had a small elopement ceremony on the beach but we still wanted great photographs. James and Bev were the perfect choice for two people who were uncomfortable taking pictures. Bev was very responsive throughout the entire process and James provided just the right amount of direction during the photoshoot. We both felt very comfortable. Also, the pictures turned out great! The final pictures do take awhile to get back but they are definitely worth the wait.

  My husband and I LOVED having James Rubio as our wedding photographer. We had a small wedding - just our immediate family in the backyard and James Rubio did a great job of taking pictures! My husband is camera-shy but felt completely relaxed the entire time. We snuck off and took fun pictures by the beach and they turned out BEAUTIFULLY.

  James and Bev are a dynamic team to work with. From the first question I sent, a great bond was formed and Bev was able to walk me through all of my questions politely and courteously (and believe me, there were a ton of questions)!
  
  Once we decided to book with them, both James and Bev made an effort to find out what we liked so that we could tailor our shoot the way we wanted. James went above and beyond to capture exactly what I wanted and our engagement pictures are breathtaking to look at.
  
  I would absolutely recommend James to everyone going to the Big Island for a photoshoot and I hope to work with him again!

  James and Bev are the best!!! Bev walked us through all the logistics beforehand. We had never met either in person until the day of our wedding (we live in California. They're based out of Hawaii) and we couldn't be happier with our pictures and the entire experience. They really captured the moment and we can relive the excitement and all the feels through their work! Throughout our wedding day James and his second shooter, Leiko were accommodating, professional, and respectful. James was really easy and fun to work with and we always felt at ease. Nothing felt scripted or too posed and he got amazing shots with us just being ourselves and having fun with our friends and family.

  Bev and James were absolutely amazing! I truly can't even desrcribe how perfect they made our wedding day. Our wedding was short notice and they responded very quickly getting dates together right away. They both were very kind, professional, understanding, amazing and helpful! On our wedding day James showed up and captured every moment from start to finish. My husband and I had never had photos taken before and were worried how we would look, pose etc... James just made us feel so comfortable and just be ourselves and enjoy the moment. The photographs were more beautiful then I could have ever imagined. Looking at our photos still puts the biggest smile on my face and brings tears of joy to my face every time. He truly has such a beuatiful eye for photography! I would recommend Bev and James to everyone! I can't even describe how beautiful, amazing, wonderful, perfect the photographs are.

Bev, however, was diligent and easily accessible with any messages and questions we had, all the way up to our wedding day. James was so fun, welcoming, and really helped us feel comfortable with every photo he shot. Nothing was rigidly posed and we felt as natural as could be, riding the high of such a perfect day. The results show and we are so very in love and pleased with everything James and Bev provided for us. He was truly the best investment of my entire wedding!My best friend found him for me, and from the moment I actually clicked on his website I was enthralled in his work. Not any other photographer moved me, like James' work. His work provoked emotion and a feeling of connection with the subject in EVERY SINGLE one of his pictures. I couldn't find, not one, session that I didn't absolutely love! I knew that I had to have James as my photographer. He was the first person, after my planner, that I booked. It was the greatest choice I made and I'm so happy we did. Great quality work, VERY professional and his wife Bev was such a great help through everything. They worked with all of my needs and was very understanding about all the traveling that my wedding required. I'm forever grateful to James and his second shooter Leiko. They did an amazing job and I couldn't be happier to say he was my photographer. Everyone always compliments on how gorgeous our pics are and how they look like they should be in a magazine, and each time I hear that type of response it just solidifies the fact that I made an incredible choice by choosing James Rubio Photography!!!

  We recently got married on the Big Island and James was the first vendor we booked! He was actually one of the reasons we decided on the Big Island instead of Maui or O'ahu. I guess we could have flown him over to the other islands (yes, he's that good and would have been totally worth it!).   My husband and I got married on the Big Island this past June. At first we were disappointed at the limited selection of vendors the Big Island had (compared to say Oahu, and definitely compared to NY where we are from). We had done A LOOOOOTTTT of research, looking into nearly every photographer in and out of Hawaii. And then we stumbled upon James Rubio...and thank goodness we did!! We were immediately taken away by his photos and knew we wanted to work with him. He took us away to scenic areas he knew that would fit what we wanted, based on photos that we showed him beforehand. He is SO incredibly easy-going and we felt such at ease with him (such a contrast from how awkward we felt during our engagement photos we took a few months prior in NY). You can sense that he is just as excited to get the right shot as much as you are -- and that sense of passion for his work really shines through. It really makes a difference in the experience. Okay, the experience is one thing...the outcome? Choosing James Rubio to do our photographs was one of the best wedding decisions we ever made! We were MORE than pleased with how they all came out. Ever since I posted some of his photos on my Facebook page, Ive received nothing but comments revolved around how breathtaking they are and how worthy they are of being postcards or the cover of a movie poster. I can't believe I even questioned getting wed on the Big Island, bcs had we not not, we would have never come across James and had these amazing photos he took that will be cherished forever. I cant recommend him enough!

  James and Bev are such wonderful people and photographers! Their work is unmatched as is the experience you will have working with them. I have never been comfortable having my picture taken and am really good at looking really awkward in pictures. James just told me where to look, what to do, and helped me relax. Our pictures are truly gorgeous. We look at them all the time and have made books and prints for family gifts. You can not go wrong with this amazing team. And if you aren't getting married on the big island? It would be worth it to fly them out to your wedding location!

  Wow! My husband and I cannot stop raving over our wedding photos. James and his assistant were awesome. They were very relaxed, yet punctual and professional. Our families loved working with them. James does mostly artistic photography, so we got some gorgeous shots. But he was also willing to do all of the typical requisite posed photography we did as well. The pictures were stunning. Yes, it does take 10 weeks to get your pictures back, but it is worth the wait! We know people who have gone with photographers who promise the photos sooner, but remember you're paying for quality not speed. James took a little longer to produce the photos, but it was WORTH IT. You have your wedding photos for the rest of your life. It's one of the only things that transcends the day. Splurge. You'll be so grateful!

  We had shopped around for other photographers before we found James Rubio Photography. There are others out there that are less expensive, but we recognized that these photographs would be the only true memories of our big day that we could physically share with others.
