Wedding details
The bride and groom met at Penn State in the fall of 2009 through a mutual friend (thanks Tim!). The two remained friends throughout the school year, and it wasn't until the last few weeks of the spring semester that they became a couple (29 April 2010). A week or so before they became a couple, Joshua interviewed for, and accepted, a position at Naval Reactors in Washington, D.C. He would start this job after he graduated from Penn State in 2011. A few weeks after becoming an couple, Kelsie graduated from Penn State and went to live with her parents in Ft. Monroe, VA while searching for a job. Joshua then went to his parents house in Easton, Pennsylvania to get ready for his summer submarine tour. While Joshua was on his summer submarine tour, Kelsie accepted a job as an Army Civilian at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. They knew that they were extremely fortunate to not only both have landed jobs so early, but to have landed them in roughly the same place. Kelsie started working at Ft. Belvoir in September 2010, and throughout the school year they drove back and forth to visit each other. Joshua "popped the question" on 19 February 2011. He convinced Kelsie that morning that he wanted to take pictures at the Penn State Lion Shrine (which they had both wanted to do for a while). He explained that he had already asked Kelsie's younger sister, Megan, to take the pictures for them (Megan, up until that morning, had no idea that Joshua planned on proposing, so she was very excited to be a part of the plan). Kelsie complained that it was too cold and gross outside to take pictures, but in the end Joshua persuaded her to go. The "picture session" took a long time, because other people at the University kept coming up to the Lion Shrine wanting to have their pictures taken, too. Finally, Joshua found the right moment to pull the ring out of his pocket. Kelsie was shocked, but extremely happy, and then immediately felt guilty for all the complaining that she'd been doing about the weather throughout the whole "photo session". Months later Joshua got commissioned into the Navy and graduated from Penn State. A few weeks after that he moved in with Kelsie and began working at Naval Reactors in Washington, D.C. The couple has been furiously planning the wedding since the day he moved in ;)
