The mansion is a beautiful, architectural masterpiece, and is delightful for photography. I especially love the chandelier and stained glass windows over the staircase, the piano room with its small harp and massive chase lounge, the ballroom that looks like it could have been one onboard the Titanic - full of beautiful windows for natural lighting and elegance. Prior to my husband and my wedding, on October 7, 2025, the beautiful Van Dusen Mansion usually supported wedding receptions after 5:00pm. However, the staff were flexible with the rental hours. I wanted rooms for wedding preparations and photos (prior to our 10:00am church wedding), and a noon celebration following, so the Van Dusen staff allowed us to have a 6:00am-6:00pm mansion rental. Unfortunately, the parking lot wasn’t available until 5:00pm, if I remember correctly, so my guests couldn’t use it, which added more inconvenience to the road work near the mansion at that time. However, since it was the first time they had a noon wedding reception, maybe they could iron out the kinks in the future. Overall, I recommend the Van Dusen Mansion for wedding preparations, brunch receptions, and gathering space for wonderful, wedding-day memories.

I had been dreaming about having my wedding at ASI ever since I was a little girl and saw the Turnblad mansion for the first time! My dream came true on October 12, 2024! Our wedding day was everything we had hoped for and more. We booked our date 2 years prior because almost every date in the fall was booked out a year in advance for the 2023 season. We really enjoyed the tasting event we attended in February 2024, but after that we didn’t hear back from the venue about planning until just under 2 months before the wedding. A bit stressful, but once things got going we got it all done in time. Kim (catering director) was fabulous- she took the time to sit down with me to answer all of my questions, listen to my crazy ideas, and alleviate all my stress! She had so many wonderful suggestions for vendors to use- Buttercream Wedding Cakes, Mirror Me Perfect (photo-booth & audio guestbook), and Ignite Lighting (Go JD!). We had an A+ team and we were thrilled with how everything turned out. We unfortunately ran a bit behind schedule due to some miscommunication with our party bus company, but Kim had the brilliant last minute idea of having our first dances during cocktail hour before we went upstairs for dinner. My husband and I weren’t sure at first, but decided to trust Kim and just go with it! We are so glad we did!! Everyone was already outside in the courtyard, it was golden hour so the lighting was just perfect, and after dinner we were free to start the party! Thank you Kim for that suggestion and helping to ensure all of our wishes were met and everything ran smoothly. We cannot thank you enough! The best part about ASI is there are so many options and spaces to use, and they are extremely flexible with whatever you want to do. We got married at St. Constantine Ukrainian Church, which worked out great because we couldn’t access ASI until after 3pm (we were able to set up the ballroom around 12pm and the Fika cafe around 2pm) because of the museum hours. We had our cocktail hour in the Turnblad mansion and outside in the courtyard (we lucked out with an absolutely gorgeous Oct evening!), our dinner was upstairs in the Larson Hall, and cake/dancing was downstairs in the Fika Cafe. Many of our guests actually went back outside after dinner to continue enjoying the beautiful weather. Everywhere you went there was a party! We had over 200 guests, but it never felt cramped as people were mingling all over. Our guests were raving about how beautiful and unique the venue was. They loved getting to experience different parts of the venue rather than being stuck in one big banquet hall the entire night. If you’re thinking about booking a wedding at ASI-just do it!!! Autumn, Winter, Spring, or Summer- it’s the most magical venue in Minneapolis. The best part is we get to keep going back to experience the magic whether we’re having dinner at the Fika Cafe or touring the museum for the hundredth time :) We love you ASI! My husband and I had our wedding at The Blaisdell in December 2022, and it was absolutely beautiful! When we first went to the venue for a tour, Janet was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and did a great job of helping us envision our wedding in the space. We decided to book the venue immediately after our tour, and we are so glad we did! It has the bright, clean vibe that we were looking for, and was more affordable than comparable venues in the area. It’s also really customizable to make your dream wedding vision come to life! Working with Kaira on the details for our wedding was also great! She was very helpful and responsive. I came to the walkthrough that we did about a month before the wedding with a ton of questions, and she answered them all before I could even ask! It was such a smooth, easy process on our end. We also loved that security was included, so we didn’t have to worry about anything! The venue is so beautiful for a winter wedding, very cozy but still spacious. We took a lot of photos outside, and it looked so beautiful with a little bit of snow on the ground! We also loved the mural on the side of the building for photos. We had our ceremony and reception in the ballroom, and the room flip during cocktail hour was totally seamless. We had a bar on the main floor and on the second floor during our cocktail hour, which was so nice to have more space for our guests and shorter lines for them to get drinks. We got so many comments from our guests on what a beautiful venue it was, and we were very happy with our choice to get married at The Blaisdell! The Minneapolis Club is the perfect choice! Ceremony, reception, dinner and dance. All in one stunning location with attached parking ramp for guests and hotel rooms for family. Jodie in catering is creative and easy to work with. Chef Hakan created the most amazing plated dinners (served hot!) to 200+ guests. Many guests told us it was the most fun and best food they've ever had at a wedding.

We got married at Semple, and there are so many great things to point out about it. It's a beautiful, historic mansion that's very cool and has lots of space. I think the best thing though was that everything could be done there. We got in at 9 AM and had it until 12 AM. That meant we got in right away to get the ballroom set up for dinner, had the hair stylist come on site to do hair and make up in the bridal suite, were there for pictures, ceremony in the foyer, cocktail hour in the lounge, and then dinner in the ballroom upstairs. Everything flowed so smoothly, and there's a lot less room for error when you don't have transition between sites. I think it made the day more enjoyable for me too and I got to be more in the moment. Overall communication was good. Katherine definitely knows her stuff and was willing to work with us on our vision for our day. There were little things that got dropped in communication. For example, I asked for an extra high top table in the ballroom for our favors and an extra 6 foot table in the lounge to display games. Those were confirmed in writing, but neither appeared the day of. Thankfully, Darek was the venue coordinator present in the morning when I caught it, and he promptly brought those where I needed them and helped me reorganize the ballroom a bit when I realized some of our original floor plan didn't work so well. Overall then, highly recommend, especially if you can make a Friday or Sunday work in a less peak season. You will absolutely get your money's worth and have an enjoyable day!

An absolutely beautiful venue!! Highly recommended for your wedding day!! My (now) husband and I first visited the Gale Mansion a couple weeks after our engagement, towards the end of October 2021. At that time, we first met with the coordinator, and then were given a tour of the beautiful and elegant mansion. Immediately, we were impressed with how classy and sophisticated the mansion looked. When we left, we both felt this could be the right place for our reception. Not that long after touring, my (now) husband and I made it official and booked the Gale Mansion as our venue for our reception! Over the past 10 months, leading up to our wedding day, we had meetings with the coordinator to go over our timeline and check things off our to-do list. Our questions were always answered in a timely manner and the coordinator was exceptional to work with, as she made things easy and stress free for our special day! Our wedding took place in mid-August 2022 and using the Gale Mansion for our place to get ready, as well as our cocktail hour and reception was truly PERFECT! All the bridesmaids and groomsmen enjoyed getting ready in the bridal suite and the groom’s room. Also, we were able to bring in hair and makeup artists so all the ladies could be in the same room to get ready together, which allowed for lots of time for us all to talk and catch up! After our church ceremony, guests arrived at the Gale Mansion for a lovely cocktail hour on the main level. Guests truly enjoyed walking around the different rooms. After cutting the cake on the main level by the beautiful fireplace, everyone moved downstairs to the gorgeous ballroom area for the dinner and dance. Lastly, the Gale Mansion was terrific in helping to tear down all of our décor, as well as saving our gifts and other personal items for us to pick up the following day after our wedding. Overall, my husband and I had an amazing wedding day thanks to the coordinator, and all of the staff at the Gale Mansion. Truly a WONDERFUL experience and would definitely recommend!

What a gorgeous space to have our wedding. We really wanted to get married in a historical space with a lot of character and this was it! We were allowed to decorate the way we wanted and bring in our own caterer (Indian) since the brewpub didn't offer that. We got married in early Fall and took pictures over at the Mill City ruins after our ceremony as well as overlooking the city from the rooftop of Day Block. I appreciated the flexibility and easy going attitude of this place - we had looked at a few older building spaces but this one really felt right! I'd recommend this venue to anyone!
