The ballroom at The Van Dusen Mansion has a lavish interior space that can accommodate 200 guests for a seated dinner and 350 guests for a cocktail reception. The inetrior space features hardwood floors, Victorian furniture, glistening chandeliers and rich woodwork throughout that will complement any elegant wedding theme. They have a ceremony space in their romantic courtyard as well as a front lawn area with a gazebo, fountain and garden furniture. The courtyard features an ivy covered wall with twinkle lights hanging above for a romantic and classic styled wedding.

Built in 1892, this “castle-like” mansion has rich history but also a progressive style. Mr. Van Dusen was an entrepreneur who founded the first and most prosperous grain firm in 1883, and the estate remained with his family for decades. After being abandoned around 1940, a heroic investor saved the mansion from being demolished and restored it back to its original splendor.

Amazing Venue and Staff
This is definitely the best wedding spot in Minneapolis. The Van Dusen Mansion is a stunning place to have a wedding, and their process is unlike any other venue. Being able to progress through the grounds was a huge hit with our guests, and everything was immaculate. I’m so excited to get our pictures back! Christy was a lifesaver and walked us through everything we needed to know all day and really kept things running smoothly when we ran into some obstacles.Sent on 06/11/2019
The bridal suite was beautiful and spacious enough for my four bridesmaids, the moms, and all of our supplies. The groom’s lounge was a great place for the guys to relax before the venue and for the guests to explore during cocktail hour. The carriage house was the perfect dance floor size and having two levels, one for dancing and one for drinking/lounging/watching, was a great setup. Outside of the rooms that guests saw, there were even more rooms perfectly set up for gorgeous pictures of us and our bridal party.
Van Dusen really has it all: it’s a beautiful venue and its staff is very good at what they do. Booking the Van Dusen Mansion will save you a ton of stress and will leave your guests in awe.

The Van Dusen was an excellent fit for our wedding, elegant while also being cozy, with plenty of dramatic opportunities for photographs and majestic interior spaces that felt comfortable to occupy. The staff were all incredibly professional and friendly, and they were very willing to accommodate any concerns we had in order to assure that our day went smoothly. The Mintahoe catering that is attached to their venue is professional and provides a variety of flexible and delicious options, and are very willing to adjust things based on your needs. Amazing Petite Wedding!
Our experience with The Van Dusen was amazing, I plan on recommending them to everyone! We were so happy that they were offering a petite wedding package which ultimately fit everything we were looking for when wedding planning. We were also blown away by all that was included for the cost. Even after my initial call with Samantha, I knew that it would stay at the top of my list when venue searching. From the time we booked our date through when we said our goodbyes on our wedding day, every single person that was involved was amazing and so easy and great to work with. I am the new site director at The Van Dusen Mansion! Before moving to Minneapolis, I was managing two venues just outside of Kansas City. GO CHIEFS! New to Van Dusen, but not to the wedding and events industry, I have been gaining experience for over 4 years in various aspects of planning and executing events.
When it comes to planning, picking out the fine details and ensuring nothing gets overlooked excites and motivates me. When the big day comes around, it is my goal for you and your love to have the most effortless day from start to finish! Your wedding day should be about soaking in the best moments with all of your favorite people. It is my job (and pleasure) to take away any other worries or stresses to make that happen. A look into who I am as a person - I’m very big into the dance community. Growing up in Minnetonka, and graduating from the University of St. Thomas, I worked hard to lead my teams as captain and achieved the first four consecutive national titles with St. Thomas Dance Team along my college journey. I knew the moment I graduated, I would go after my dreams of becoming a wedding planner and coaching my Alma Mater team, Minnetonka. When I am not attached at the hip with my work laptop… I love spending time on my paddle board, supporting my boyfriend, Tyson, while he coaches hockey from the stands with a coffee, spending time with family on the lake, and giving a warm hello to every dog in sight -- (your dog is very much welcomed in our virtual tour session!)
