We are so glad we chose to have our wedding and reception at the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara. We wanted an indoor ceremony venue that embodied the classic Santa Barbara central coast Mission style, but we very much did NOT want a church. USSB was perfect for us because although it has church-ish vibes (and has a PIPE ORGAN, which you're darn right we utilized), there is zero religious iconography inside; nary a crucifix in sight. For us, this was huge.

The staff was always professional, helpful, and quick to respond. They were very flexible around where we placed our catering and even allowed us to block some of their loading zone spaces in order to accommodate a last-minute catering change where instead of being under a tent, our caterers worked out of their food truck to better be able to quickly serve our volume of guests. (Note that we did have to coordinate this with the city as well as USSB.)

We loved that we were able to buy & bring our own alcohol instead of being locked in to purchasing from the venue like so many other locations in SB. And, for all this AND MORE (don't get me started on the convenience of having tables and chairs available to be rented from the venue -- and set up by them too!), USSB was one of the most affordable venues we considered. We have zero regrets in choosing USSB for our wedding & reception and recommend them wholeheartedly to any other couples considering a wedding in Santa Barbara.

We had a micro wedding at Unitarian Society in October of 2025 and we could not be happier with how everything turned out. The venue itself is beautiful which makes it so much easier as it does not require a lot to make the space look dreamy. Joanie (Event Coordinator) was the best she was so kind and helpful throughout the entire process. My advice to other brides is take all of Joanies advice she has such invaluable experience with weddings. She had so many great ideas and suggestions I knew I was in great hands the moment I met her. Everything ran so smoothly the day of and my vision was executed beautifully! The catering company and bartending service I used came from the venues preferred vendor list and they were wonderful (DJ’s catering and 805 mixology). I would 1000% recommended this venue to brides looking to get married in Santa Barbara!!!

After going back and forth with ideas of a wedding and elopement, we decided to elope at the courthouse in hopes of getting married on our dating anniversary. Unfortunately, the Courthouse can be booked months in advance so we were looking for a nice venue to host us with less than a month away. That's where the USSB came in. With the micro-wedding package, we were able to have a low-cost, intimate, and beautiful wedding ceremony. Joanie was very accommodating with arranging short notice visits to the venue and with entertaining our ideas as we honed in our vision for the wedding. Her and John even took care of the day-of-coordination, allowing our florist to setup the pews and altar and the photographer to post above for some aerial shots. On the wedding day, everything went seamless and stress-free. We can't thank them enough for accommodating us so last minute.
