Matt and Tara are exceptional photographers who were so, so very easy to work with and captured beautiful, funny, unique moment during our wedding and we were blown away by their work. I am a somewhat shy and definite camera shy person and my initial phone call with Tara put me at ease- she was so easy to talk to and get along with it was easy to choose her and Matt to be the vendors we would be in contact with the most on our wedding day. Tara also helped me figure out day-of timeline with her knowledge and experience when I realized I had no idea what I was doing! Day of, they both were professional, unobtrusive, and worked hard to capture beautiful moments throughout the day. Our families had nothing but good things to say about them, and our golden hour sunset photos are amazing -- they are worth every penny!

We were so happy we hired Matt for our wedding reception. He had a calming approach, letting us enjoy the night rather than stand through hours of regimented posed photos. When we did have posed photos, he ran through them quickly - keeping the whole process organized. Throughout the evening he did an amazing job taking candid photos of everyone enjoying themselves. The resulting photos did a great job capturing the energy of our wedding.

Besides the amazing quality of their photos, the Theilen’s are just wonderful people. They truly want everyone to be able to have incredible wedding photos and found a solution for us to be able to work with them within our budget. Timeless. This is the word my husband and I keep coming back to as we spend hours and hours looking at our wedding photos and sharing them with friends and family. Our photos tell the story of our celebration…..from laugh out loud moments to tears of joy flowing down our faces at our first look. Tara and Matt captured how we felt on our wedding day. I am a wedding photographer and the number one question people asked me after we got engaged was ‘who is going to photograph your wedding?’ the answer was easy and one that I knew the moment we got engaged. Theilen Photography! I had the pleasure of meeting Tara Theilen many years ago at a workshop and the moment you meet her you realize that she is a very special soul and she is also incredibly talented. More recently I got to meet her other half Matt Theilen when they spoke at a conference and he is equally wonderful and so very talented indeed. They each bring their own perspectives and strengths to the wedding day and together they are the best combination you could ever ask for. Being a wedding photographer I wondered if I would be distracted by cameras on our big day and I can say with 100% honestly that I was never distracted once. Tara and Matt are photo ninjas, they move within your day and what they do is truly an art. I don’t think this is something that can be learned, rather, it is an instinct they possess and it allows them to capture the most intimate moments, the things that could go otherwise unnoticed or be forgotten if not photographed. It is clear they love what they do. They took time to get to know us and asked us about our story. They got to know our family and took great care in capturing all of our special relationships. Their photos show all the laughter, happy tears, hugs, the big moments and the small ones too. In addition to being incredibly talented photographers they are two of the kindest people we have ever met. They are the kind of people you want around you on your wedding day. They went above and beyond for us on every level. Our wedding was on Nantucket Island where we live and they came out here and instantly felt like part of our family. They photographed the entire celebration (and it was a lot of events). They photographed it all. Our Wedding Yoga Class, Rehearsal Walk Through, Rehearsal Dinner, Welcome Party, Wedding Day, After Wedding Party, Day After Party and a Portrait Session out at one of our favorite lighthouses on the island. They gave us the most amazing gift of getting to relive the celebrations and all of the special moments for the rest of our lives. The minute we got our photos we stopped everything and stayed up all night laughing and crying looking at the gallery and this continues to happen every time we look at the photos. Tara and Matt will capture you in the most raw, real and special way and you will be thankful you chose them. In our opinion they are the ultimate team and we are forever grateful they were our wedding photographers.

We had high hopes going into our wedding day because of the fantastic images on Matt and Tara's website but somehow they managed to exceed our expectations in every way. They captured the incredibly beautiful scenery of our wedding in Tahoe and managed to get all of the intimate, personal, and fun moments we were hoping for. They dodged all of our smartphone-crazy family and friends to get the perfect shots and were never in the way or intrusive at all. They were also so relaxed, calm, and fun to work with. And they even managed to send over our final images earlier than we were expecting, which were packaged beautifully. I can't recommend them highly enough!

Amazing photos & people! Felt like we were w/ friends taking our photos! Loved them! A bit more expensive but AMAZING photos - Candid & action shots w/ amazing views & they're awarded internationally! They know what they're doing! So easy day of. We never felt "photographed". They accomplished everything we wanted/could have hoped for. They got our wedding vibe & asked what we want to remember about our day when we looked back on it. So efficient at posed shots/candids/special moments (for us: we jumped on the bed in our hotel room after our ceremony, & did a grand exit w/ sparklers - PERFECT!) Nothing but supportive w/ planning, available, helpful w/ suggestions on lighting/timing/logistics w/ getting ready. They're familiar with so many venues & offer suggestions around that. They always replied quickly w/ detailed & thoughtful responses & really care if you enjoy your day! We DIYd our photo booth & asked if we could rent umbrellas & light stands but they wouldn't take $ for them! I mean where do you ever find that? On time w/ edits & even sent us a few complimentary large photos. We purchased for our 1 year anniversary our favorite shot on aluminum-a perfect spin during our choreographed 1st dance - as they suggested this would be the perfect medium for this shot. It's so beautiful! Another favorite: a photo of me holding my mom's wedding day posed photo (she passed away just before our wedding) & I'm doing the same pose. We hope to purchase a wedding album at some point as well. We'd love to do some Tahoe family shots someday - their Tahoe shots are so beautiful. THEY ARE AMAZING!

Where do I begin......they were amazing! From the first time I spoke with Matt to the wedding day, they were very easy and enjoyable to work with. On my wedding day, Matt and Nick were there to capture all the different moments. They are extremely knowledgable, worked great together, and helped make the moments prior to the ceremony less stressful (thank you for that!). My husband hates taking pictures, but at the end of the evening he comment how much he enjoyed working with them and appreciated all that they did.

They were very patient and worked well when getting the families together for the pictures after the ceremony. At no point did we ever feel rushed and we all enjoyed working with them throughout the night. They got along great with everyone! They both have a creative eye for different types of pictures/settings and I loved that! Family and friends were commenting how much they enjoyed them.

I can not wait to see the photo gallery. I have seem one picture and it was amazing....can only imagine how great the rest will be!

I would recommend them to anyone and I would definitely use them again!!

We could not be happier with our decision to hire Theilen's associate photographers - Kevin and Lindsey - to photograph our wedding. We first met Kevin at our engagement session and we immediately clicked with him and had a great time trucking through the snow with him for our engagement session. He made us feel so comfortable that our photos don't look posed or unnatural at all - they look like candid pictures of us interacting, which is exactly what we wanted. He has an incredible eye for scenery and lighting and he even crawled through snow on his belly to get the perfect shots.

On our wedding day, Kevin and Lindsey blended in seamlessly, capturing beautiful photos and being fun and so laid back in the process. I have been in a lot of weddings where the photographer is constantly in your face preventing you from acting naturally, and that was not the case at all with Kevin and Lindsey. They were always there to capture every moment, but they were never a bother. In fact, my bridesmaids and I had so much fun hanging out with them while we were getting ready. They were also so patient with us as we tried to corral an extraordinarily large bridal party and family for photos. They never once made us feel rushed or like we were bothering them when we asked for another shot. Kevin even moved each individual centerpiece for us so that they wouldn't be in the way as we went around to take photos with each of the tables.

We received our photos ahead of schedule, both through an online gallery and on a flash drive. With the flash drive, Matt and Tara included beautiful prints of a few of our best pictures in a gift box with a handwritten thank you note. Our photos are honestly the most amazing wedding photos that I have ever seen. We were so impressed by the way that Kevin and Lindsey used the surroundings and the lighting to create photos that didn't just document the day but that are truly pieces of art.
