I can't say enough good things about Amanda - she's talented, professional, responsive, fun to talk to, understood what I wanted, and absolutely made me look like a freakin' movie star! I had tons of people come up to me at my wedding, saying, "That dress was MADE for you!" And it literally was! Amanda altered my dress to fit me perfectly, and she also altered my stepdaughter's dress, which was wonderful too. I couldn't have been happier, and would definitely recommend her without hesitation! Best dress ever!

I still can't believe how Amanda was able to transform my dress from something that sorta fit to something that fit like it was made for me. She was so easy to work with, and I had to hold back tears when she zipped up my dress at the final fitting and I saw my dress fit me the way I had imagined when I first purchased it the year before.

Amanda is just amazing and so easy to work with! I went to her to get a bridesmaid's dress altered in December and then I went back to her for my wedding dress in May. For both dresses she did an incredible job and made me feel unbelievable! I don't always feel great about my body and I have a hard time feeling good about myself in any clothes especially dresses, but she truly is a miracle worker and made me feel so beautiful. I had also asked to change the straps to my wedding dress and she completely understood what I wanted and they came out even better than I ever thought they would. She also made hair pins for me out of petals from my wedding dress and they were just so perfect and really completed the look. I cannot thank her enough for what an amazing job she did for me. Amanda is also so fun to chat with during appointments and I always felt so comfortable with her. I would recommend her a thousand times over to anyone!!!

Amanda was excellent to work with! My dress was about a size too big and she was able to work with the intricate lace and beading details to alter it down to the perfect fit. She was very precise and always double checked everything before making any changes. I wanted to wear the veil and headpiece that my mom and grandma wore during their weddings; however it was a bit outdated and yellowed. She was able to work her magic to transform it into a piece that matched my dress perfectly, but also kept the integrity of the headpiece. Amanda made sure I was completely comfortable with everything before sending it home with me. Highly recommend for any alteration needs!

The Shiny Thimble came to my rescue about 2 months before my wedding date after I was unsatisfied with the alterations provided by another seamstress. I met with Amanda twice and she basically redid my dress for me so that it would fit my body. The previous seamstress had not cut any extra material off the dress when taking in the sides and it was bulky throughout my torso. I was extremely happy with the results, my dress was perfect for the wedding and I would not hesitate to recommend her services to anyone that needs a skilled seamstress. I contacted The Shiny Thimble to have a dress hemmed for my brother's wedding. My mom also needed her dress hemmed, so we made an appointment together. We arrived a few minutes early to our appointment and were greeted by Amanda.

Amanda asked us each to try on the dresses (with the shoes we were planning to wear to the wedding) and she asked us where we felt comfortable with the hem.

She also made a great suggestion to my mom to adjust her dress from gaping at the arms. It was an additional, but totally reasonable cost, and it made a huge difference in how comfortable the dress was.

Amanda goes above and beyond for her clients. She is attentive to the details of the job and also of the time requirements. She is knowledgeable and accessible. Her pricing is fair and the quality of work is terrific.

I wish I had known about The Shiny Thimble for my own wedding! The company I worked with did a fine job, but with Amanda doing our alterations I was confident in the quality of work and that I received a fair price.

She is very personable, flexible with appointments, affordable, and most importantly she knows what she's doing when it comes to alterations on your important dresses. She took on a few challenges with my group, such as a surprise sheer back on a busty bridesmaid's dress, and limited availability of my daughter, a college student out-of-state. It never even seemed to throw her for a loop. My dress had so much structure in the front that it looked like it was made for Jessica Rabbit. Amanda had to remove the lace and beading detail to get into the front so it would fit perfectly- when she was done and had replaced the lace and beading, I couldn't even tell it had ever been removed. She did my dress and four of my bridesmaids' dresses, plus my younger daughter's prom dress. We all looked fantastic. We'll definitely be back for future special occasions!!

I've used the Shiny Thimble for alterations twice and can't say enough great things about Amanda. She completely reworked my wedding gown and made it fit like a custom-designed dress. I had a great experience working with Amanda on my bridal gown alterations. Even though it was a bit of a drive for me from northwest Philly suburbs, it was well worth it as Amanda was a pleasure to work with and made me feel very confident that the dress would fit perfectly. My gown ended up fitting like a glove, and Amanda was very helpful with feedback about the fit and styling of the dress. She did alterations to the hem, waistline and bust area, removed straps to make it strapless, and added in the bustle. Amanda was able to work with me to figure out different options for bustling the dress, since the material of the dress (English netting) proved to be somewhat challenging in terms of the bustle. I ended up very happy with the bustle and she gave my maid of honor a diagram for how to complete the bustle for the day of the wedding. I cannot say enough good things about Amanda's professionalism, friendly attitude, and quality of work.
