About

The Hill is a wedding venue located in Hudson, New York. This age-old property sits proudly on top of a hill surrounded by three hundred acres of land that overlooks the Catskill Mountains and nearby pastures. With indoor and outdoor event spaces available, this private site is great for those seeking to tie the knot away from the bustling big city.

Facilities and Capacity

During the summer months, couples can host romantic ceremonies on the venue's lawn. Here, you can create a picture-postcard ceremony site that offers vistas of the mountain range of woodland. Needless to say, this dramatic setting makes for one-of-a-kind memories and photo opportunities. Such outside areas may be used for cocktail hours should you wish. Here, you can mingle with loved ones, sip on thirst-quenching beverages, and watch as the sun sets over the Catskill Mountains. Receptions that run long into the night can be hosted in the stunning barn. This spot is complete with high ceilings, original wooden beams, traditional barn doors, and romantic overhead fairy lights. The Palladian Barn can hold up to 300 people and has ample space for seated guests, a dance floor, and live entertainment. Additional facilities include the bridal day cottage and groom's day room. This allows both parties to relax and gradually get ready ahead of a day of celebrations you're sure to cherish forever.

Services Offered

Upon booking your special day at The Hill, their events staff supplied you with a plethora of decorations and rental items to make the venue your own. This can include 300 padded white chairs, farm tables, lighting fixtures, furnishings, chuppah decorations, lawn games, and so on. This site's team will also take a leading role in the setup and breakdown of such items, leaving you to focus on more meaningful matters.

A Hidden Gem

I have lived just 20 minutes down the road from this amazing place and only found out about it a year ago. This hidden gem gives you more than most places for a decent price and the best part is they only hold one wedding a week. You get FOUR days on site! There is a beautiful bridal cottage with great lighting, hooks everywhere, mirrors and sinks if needed. Another room in the Palladian barn for the groom and his men. Tables, chairs for 300 people are provided, plus two horse stalls full of decorations/vases/lanterns/signage etc. There are also four-five different arbors to choose from for your ceremony and I haven't even gotten to the view of the Catskills. I can't wait for our photos. Lisa, the site manager, is a pleasure to work with as well.

Stunning venue

The Hill is absolutely stunning. Our guests were in awe of how beautiful the grounds were. And even more amazing is how affordable it actually is. When you book this venue, you get enough tables and chairs for up to 300 guests, as well as ample decorative furniture and lawn games to help fill out the space and create different spaces for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. They have beautiful string lighting and chandeliers that created a warm ambiance. They also have an entire room of props you can use in any way you want. Lisa, the site manager, was phenomenal. We just sent her an email about a week before the wedding with how we wanted the space laid out and when we arrived the weekend of the wedding, everything was laid out for us so all we had to do was add the decorative elements that we brought ourselves- which really wasn’t much because the venue itself looks phenomenal. Our wedding photos look amazing because with a venue this stunning, it would be hard to get those wrong. Worth noting that you will need to bring in your own caterer and catering rentals because there is no kitchen on site. But Lisa provided us with an amazing list of recommended vendors that helped us find the perfect team to help us execute the wedding day of our dreams. So so worth it.

Breathtaking

The Hill is by far the most beautiful venue I have ever seen. My guests couldn’t stop raving about this place! They provide reception chairs and tables, and an abundance of decor. While this venue does require a lot of DIY, Lisa and her team make it very easy. They give you a stack of vendor recommendations, and take a lot of the guess work out. I would definitely recommend getting a wedding planner since it is such a large venue. I wish I could relive my wedding day at The Hill again!

Our Wedding at The Hill was absolutely everything we had hoped for. Our guests all left saying how much they loved the location. It’s a hidden gem! The parking is easy and close by. The Art Barn and Palladian Barn both have so much character that little to no décor is needed. Lisa, the Site Manager, was wonderful to work with and so accommodating. They provided tables and chairs, unlike a lot of other DIY barns that we looked at in the area so this saved us a lot of money. There's also a prop room which allows you to pick and choose decor for your special day without having to pay extra. We also loved that the barn had multi levels and was big enough to hold our ceremony in case of rain. We would highly recommend The Hill for any kind of event.

The Hill was a dream-come-true. It was the first venue we looked at and fell in love with it, but with me being the world's most indecisive bride, we looked at more venues... only to lead us back to The Hill. It was the loveliest "unique" venues we had visited and one of the few that could comfortably fit our wedding of 225 guests. Al and Betsy are so kind and their love of their property just makes you fall even more in love with it yourself. They have staff that can help with questions throughout the year and an on-site staff that helps with the cleaning and some set-up the week before your wedding. Because it is a complete blank slate, the planning is not for the faint of heart. Luckily I thrive on on organization, design, and DIY and have a husband and big family who do as well. We were able to choose all our own vendors, make our own schedule, make our own decorations, etc. I'd recommend that you be comfortable with the level of detail required or hire a planner who can do a lot of the work. If you're looking for a place that you can make into something that truly reflects your vision and you as a couple, The Hill is perfect!

What a lovely place to get married! My husband and I chose The Hill even though it was literally the first (and therefore only) venue we visited. We're ordinarily extremely cautious and deliberative people, but we just loved it so much we knew it was the place for us. Bear in mind, The Hill is no wedding factory--you'll have to bring in everything you need to host your ceremony and reception--but if you're looking for a venue that will allow you to customize your wedding to your heart's content (they do not require you to work with specific vendors), The Hill can't be beat. Al and Betsy, the owners, are professional, flexible/understanding, and best of all kind. We truly could not have asked for a more beautiful wedding, or for one that was more "us", and we have The Hill to thank for that!

We couldn't have dreamed a more beautiful or special venue for our wedding. The grounds and barn are stunning, and really show the best of the Hudson Valley. You do need to bring in all catering, decor, and infrastructure, but Betsy, Al, Lisa, and their teams are such pros and make it very easy to do so. The rental fee is a little high comparatively, but it's 100% worth it for the venue and the support. The Hill is so naturally beautiful that you need almost no additional decor. They also have many knick knacks from past weddings that are available for your use. If you're looking for a jawdropping naturally beautiful venue, this is it!

I could not say enough good things about this wedding venue. We must have looked at 6+ different barn type venues. This was the first of all that we saw and we always kept coming back to it. The wedding day itself was absolutely beautiful. Everything and more than I expected it to be. Guests were raving about the beautiful location, authentic barns, and stunning grounds. I loved that there was a gorgeous ceremony outside, but also accommodations inside in case of bad weather. This was truly the perfect pick for our wedding venue. It was more expensice than some others we looked into, but well worth the investment. Lisa and the rest of the staff were also very helpful and did everything they could the weekend of our wedding to make sure it was exactly the way that we wanted.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
