The Bernard's Inn, a wedding venue in Bernardsville, New Jersey, has entered into a new partnership with celebrity chef David Burke. We are now called Red Horse at the Bernard's Inn. We have a newly renovated restaurant bar, a main dining room, and a new restaurant, "The Bernie." This wedding venue is a luxurious property that offers couples a romantic and intimate escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city as they celebrate their day. The stylish and sophisticated decor allows couples to create the wedding they've always envisioned right down to the finest details. With dozens of glamorous chandeliers and cozy stone fireplaces, this enchanting site welcomes guests to rejoice in harmony and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Facilities and Capacity
The Bernie (formally known as the Silver Vault & Wine Pantry) is a private room on the lower level of our venue with a private entrance. There are bathrooms on this level for private functions. It was once a speakeasy in the 1920s, but it was then turned into a bowling alley, pool, billiard room, and several restaurants. There is still the original brick and stone in the space. The Bernies décor is reminiscent of the fabulous estate homes of the Bernardsville Mountain Colony. It is a very intimate, rustic, and cozy space. The Bernie bar is a section of the room with some banquet seats, a private bar, and a great cocktail hour space (or used for gift opening, buffets, and much more!). The Bernie dining room is where your guests can be seated to eat. There is also a hidden TV in this section of the room. You can seat 55 guests in the Bernie dining room (maximum of 5 oval tables with 11 guests each) and 40 in the Bernie bar. We rent out this entire space, the Bernie bar and Bernie dining room. We rent The Bernie and the Bernie bar as one room. Please note that Bernie is not handicap accessible. You can enter this room from the lobby, followed by 14 steps, or our private entrance with 6 steps. The Bernie is an excellent cocktail hour space before entering our Fenwick Ballroom.
The most significant event space at The Bernards Inn is the outstanding Fenwick Ballroom. Featuring large windows, a bar, and a dramatic skyline, this 2,300-square-foot room makes for large ceremonies and extravagant receptions. The Fenwick Ballroom can be arranged to include seated guests, a dance floor, and live entertainment while accommodating up to 160 guests. Alternatively, this ballroom can be split into two separate event areas for smaller, more quaint festivities.

Upon booking your event at this venue, you will receive various event services and rental items. The helpful staff at Red Horse by David Burke at The Bernards Inn will help with the setup and breakdown of your event, allowing you to immerse yourself in your celebration. Fueled by passion, grit, and a knack for artful innovation, David Burke is one of the best-known and most respected chefs in modern American cuisine with his signature whimsical, boundlessly creative approach to food. Burke and his DBHM team operate or orchestrate the culinary component of 18 restaurants, a bakery, and our historic property, The Bernard's Inn. Further services include hotel accommodations (20 hotel rooms on the property, including a bridal suite and groom suite) and a culinary team that will create a customized wedding menu.
