Hugh Piney and his staff did a fabulous job for my wedding. Hugh assured me that the Chef could put together a wonderful vegan meal. We had hot appetizers and a vegan buffet. Not only were we pleased... but our guests went out of their way to tell Hugh and his staff how delicious the food was and how terrific the wait staff were. Many long time vegan friends said it was the most delicious food they ever had at an event. Hugh was always available to answer my questions and to meet with me. My wedding and reception were at the Dinsmore. With the view of the Hudson Valley, spacious room and beautiful place settings... I thank Hugh for making my wedding a dream come true!

Teri was amazing. She helped me out so much and was available for all of my many questions. The food was wonderful and the facility in Staatsburg was everything we wanted!!!! Easily one of the best decisions we made.

Terrapin impressed us in every way possible. Their food was delicious, inventive, and reflected both us as a couple and the local offerings. Service moved efficiently and quickly--I've never seen a wedding where everyone got their plates in such a short period of time. But Terrapin really shined when handling aspects and issues we didn't expect. A few examples: 1) About 6-7 months prior to our wedding, they experienced an unexpected change in staff. Josh, the owner/executive chef, swooped in and personally handled our wedding for us to make sure we didn't suffer because of this development. This not only assured a smooth transition, but Josh actually improved the menu offerings. This commitment to client service went a long way with us, as we were planning our wedding from 300 miles away. 2) When we hired Terrapin, we weren't expecting to get much more than a caterer, but their event manager, Ben, gave us tremendous amounts of advice to help us with rentals, timing, and selection of/coordination with other vendors. Had we decided to hold our ceremony and reception in the same location, Ben would have eliminated any need for a wedding planner/coordinator. Again, because we were handling everything ourselves, and from out of town, this was of significant help to us. 3) Terrapin willingly volunteered options to help us stay in our budget that weren't necessarily in their interest; e.g., they suggested we buy our own booze (which we did) which kept the cost down (it did) though at their loss of profit on selling us the booze themselves. We greatly appreciated this unselfishness. 4) Ben, the event coordinator/day-of manager, was waiting for us with a tray of food when we arrived at our reception. Because we had another 30 minutes of photos before we could join the party, this was awesome.
You definitely get what you pay for with Terrapin, and its worth it: for the food, for the service, and for the confidence and peace of mind on the big day.

Terrapin is known for their food in our area! We started planning our event with Hugh about a year in advance. There was little communication until the end (not a big deal). We had to be very firm with our budget and we went back and forth a bit before everyone was happy. Hugh was a wealth of information when it came to tradition, etiquette, what to expect, etc. There were so many things that I never would have thought of and Terrapin took care of all the details.
We picked out all of our rentals with him, he had a vision for the space, and was more than happy to accommodate our slightly picky menu!
All of our guests loved the food! One of them even said it was nice to see vegetables created as a dish rather than a side. We tried to stay true to our vegetarian/vegan diet and Terrapin was happy to accommodate.
Honestly amazing food! No one will be disappointed with any of the food, display or other details that Terrapin puts together!

I was soooooo thrilled with this vendor. My wedding was in my parents back yard and I was terrified that everything would go wrong! Yet NOTHING DID.. The staff at this company went above and beyond my expectations. They took care of the rentals,tents chairs ect. The did the table center pieces and plate settings. Then there was the food! So Yummy! I got rave reviews from my guests and felt so proud. THANK YOU TERRAPIN! I highly recommend them for an offsite wedding!

We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted our day to be like, and we love Terrapin's food. It was easy for us to plan our menu with Terrapin Catering, they were open to our ideas and honest about where we could cut costs as well as add a few touches to give our day a little more unique feel.

Our wedding was far from cookie cutter the usual, thanks to Hugh and all the gang over at Terrapin Catering who make each and every detail work out exactly how we had planned and hoped.

Unquestionably.... we would recommend Terrapin Catering to friends and family for any sort of occassion. We were elated to find out they also cater off-site. Maybe there will be a baby shower in the very near future???

The food at our wedding was delicious, the waiters and bartenders were great and interacted well with our guests. very glad we used them!

We are so happy that we selected Terrapin Catering for our wedding! Hugh and his staff were super professional and created a delicious and interesting menu. Because we were married at a private home, Hugh also coordinated all of the rentals.

My coordinator was let-go the day before my wedding. Her replacement who was supposed to have 250+ weddings under his belt messed up the placement of my cake. He set up a round cake on a huge rectangular table. He could have fixed this in a number of ways. He thought it looked fine. It was also missing the floral topper. He took the flowers off of my table and placed a few of them on the cake. It looked ridiculous. My original coordinator knew hoe important the cake was to me. She had a picture of it. He never looked at the picture. If he had he would have noticed the missing flowers. He also changed the arrangement of the tables the day before, forcing me to change the placement of my guests! My eldest couples ended up near the DJ.. I had originally put them across the room, far away. Also, complaints came in after the Honeymoon about underdone chicken. My grievance was handled in a very unprofessional manner by the owner. I praised the food, except the chicken. I applauded the way the replacement handled most of the wedding with hardly any communication with us. I applauded the coordinator's idea of serving my husband and I even though it was a buffet. This insured no accidents of food on clothes. The owner gave me a halfhearted apology and defended the things I was not happy with. I had also complained to my baker because he was supposed to be in charge of my cake, or so I thought. The cake represents him, yet he is not the one who sets it up. The catering people do that. BRIDES BEWARE!!I do not understand this. They have no way of knowing how the cake is supposed to look. My cake proved that! He apologized for his part in my unhappiness and offered to remake the cake top for the First Anniversary.
