Amazing, restaurant quality food

He was responsive, collaborative, and easy to work with. From our tasting to serving 110 guests, the food was restaurant-quality and much more creative than normal catering fare: curry-dressed salad with prosciutto, gazpacho shooters, steelhead trout with preserved lemon. The desserts- chocolate mousse with coffee caramel and apple cider donuts were legendary. Juan partnered with us to create a menu that reflected our tastes. Our guests kept saying it was the best wedding food they’d ever had.

Juan also nailed our welcome BBQ and farewell brunch. The shrimp and grits got the seal of approval from my South Carolina family (no small feat). His team was warm, professional, and a joy to work with. We can’t recommend Lekker enough.

Couldn't have done it w/o Lekker!

I truly don't have enough praise for Juan and his Lekker team. Juan was the first vendor we hired, and we knew immediately that we wanted to work with him. He is a genuine, passionate, and personable chef and business owner, and we immediately appreciated how he spoke about his values within the industry. Juan was so professional and communicative throughout the entire process. He made multiple site visits and hosted us for a wonderful tasting a few months before the event.

We hired Lekker for a full weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), and everything went off without a hitch. We wanted fresh and local food with as much sustainability as possible, and Juan really tried to make that happen. I have celiac, and I felt really safe knowing that he was making accommodations for me. I'm not just saying this: I have truly never seen a buffet move so quickly. The Lekker team was so fantastic. They were very attentive and really there to make everything work seamlessly.

The whole experience of working with Lekker was just great. We're so grateful!

Flexible, compassionate and DELICIOUS food!

Juan and the team at Lekker were AMAZING to work over the 2 YEARS it took to plan our wedding amidst a pandemic!! Juan is flexible, down to earth, and kind! Also, his food is some of the most delicious I've ever tasted. We used Juan for Friday and Saturday (wedding) night. For Friday, he brought his food truck, which is a very fun option for a more casual vibe! On Friday, his team saved the night when an unexpected storm forced everyone inside a little barn. They rushed all the food inside, probably getting soaked in the process!! Everyone said the food was incredible both Friday and Saturday - delicious, fresh and well prepared!!!!

Delicious!

Our wedding planner found Lekker for us and we knew at our first tasting that they were the ones for us. Not only was the food delicious, it was plated with thoughtfulness and care. The owner took our numerous dietary restrictions and preferences seriously. Throughout the planning process they were communicative and paid attention to every detail. When my (now) husband and I arrived at cocktail hour we were greeted with cocktails and our friends and family were already raving about the hors d'oeuvres. We had a plated dinner and the food service was efficient and seamless. All personalized requests were met and the staff was attentive throughout the meal. We had a dessert table that was set up next to the dance floor without detracting from the event. Their attention to detail even included plates of dessert being placed on our sweetheart table. Not something we requested, but very much appreciated. Overall, Lekker did a fabulous job catering our wedding and we would hire them again without reservation.

We just got married at Handsome Hollow in Long Eddy, NY this past weekend and used Lekker as our full-service caterer. We were one of the first weddings to have the hand-off from former owner, Luc, to the new current full-time owner, Juan Romero. Admittedly I was very nervous because Luc and I had previously agreed on a whole custom food & drink & rentals package for X dollars, and naturally some details and specifics were lost when Juan took over. Luckily, we had the opportunity to meet in person, and Juan continued to be very responsive with phone calls, texts, and email. On the day-of, the food and cocktails were delicious - we got so many compliments. Juan and his staff juggled everything so well. He responded to every question and executed everything as smoothly as we would have ever hoped. Every little thing we asked for - like my favorite food of pesto grilled shrimp, a family-style feast of vegetarian Mediterranean food, using zero plastic (like straws and cups) to be more environmentally conscious, bringing donuts from a local bakery for dessert, etc. etc. - he did with zero hesitation. He even added things on after the final menu was set (like His & Hers cocktails when I remembered those were a thing, and watermelon for a late-night snack) with zero fuss. Our wedding ended up being perfect in every way, and I would wholeheartedly recommend Lekker Catering to anyone.

Amazing Brunch Wedding

Chef Juan and his team were on point for our Brunch Buffet Wedding. Our first communication was a little slow (there was a transition going on.) Once I was in touch with Chef Juan himself it was smooth sailing, he gave us an amazing menu off the top of his head. We made our decision when we visited his restaurant Duo Bistro in Kingston, NY for Saturday brunch. After that, we had a business meeting with him for the contract signing, and then a tasting of our amazing custom menu. Juan was responsive and extremely flexible to work with and the food was top notch! Thank you so much for your help in making our day work out flawlessly.

Luc and his team delivered one of the most delicious and fun dinner experiences we’ve ever had - and all within our budget limitations - but we must be honest it did come along with a bit of risk and anxiety. Communication from him was spotty and required a bit of nudging, and information he provided was at times incomplete. But we realized that Luc had a looser, more casual way of working with his clients, and we needed to trust his expertise, creativity, and adaptations to local/seasonal availability. Having said all that, we went to Woodstock to try his food and were totally won over. He was willing to work within our budget while coming up with a fun & fresh menu to honor both our mixed heritages. He also incorporated his tiger orange food truck (complete with sound system & disco ball) to serve one of the dishes from the window, while guests could pour their own draft beers from their built-in taps! Our guests raved about literally every single appetizer and dinner option (most a far cry from typical wedding fare), and the servers and bartenders were friendly and accomodating. We would totally work with Luc again, but just be ready for a more laissez-faire experience.

Lack of initial responsiveness

I'm sure Lekker's food is as everyone says, but we will not have an opportunity to enjoy it at my daughter's wedding next June. After two weeks, three emails, and three phone calls asking for his ideas, Juan evidently did not have the time or organization to present us with a proposal. When I called him and told him this made me nervous about Lekker's future performance, he replied in an email declining to work with us at all and saying "It has become clear already that you are not the kind of clients with whom we here at Lekker Catering wish to deal with." Perhaps we're not, but I did find this reply rather rude and unprofessional. So, dismayed at not enjoying Lekker's food and catering, I guess the feeling will be mutual - Juan and his company is not the kind of vendor with whom my family wishes to deal with. Others may have different experiences, but lack of attention up front for such an important event does not speak well.
