Wood Fire Food

One of the best moments in planning our wedding was when Wood Fire confirmed their availability on our date. Open-fire cooking is something we're incredibly passionate about, and having grown up with the restaurants on his resume, Dan Sabia's reputation well preceded him. We knew after one call that this crew was the right culinary team to trust with our vision, and that we could step aside and let them do what they do best.

Working with Wood Fire was an absolute pleasure. To say they exceeded our expectations honestly feels like an understatement. After hearing out our general direction and guest dietary restrictions, Dan absolutely nailed the menu on the first try — no easy feat, considering just how particular we are. Getting married at an unconventional venue, we were also put greatly at ease knowing Wood Fire would handle all of our table, dish, and flatware rentals with pieces that were both on brand with our aesthetic and their format.

Forgetting even the food, which was everything we hoped and dreamed it would be (and more), the level of thoughtfulness from every member of Dan's team was truly unreal. We didn't tell them our belated grand entrance/photo op distractions had us worried we'd miss the raw bar, or seeing the full culinary performance. Well, at the first natural opportunity, Stash hunted me down with a special raw bar platter prepared just for the bride and groom. The overall timing also worked out where we got to watch the best of the kitchen action. Guests raved as much about the servers as they did the food, which got the consistent review of "this was the best meal I've ever had in my life."

Wood Fire Food provided an amazing catering experience for our wedding. We wanted our guests to enjoy the best food they have ever had at a wedding and our goal was achieved. We knew our guests would be in for a treat after we had the tasting with Chef Dan, which felt very much like our own private Michelin star dining experience. He was attentive to our preferences and what foods/wines are special to us, and used them to create top class dishes. The entire team was also extremely proficient and professional on the big day. The servers and bartenders were on point all night and delivered a high level of service. Our guests still tell us how much they loved the food 6 months later. Hiring the right caterer is one of the biggest decisions for any wedding, and we are grateful to have had Wood Fire Food at ours.

Our wedding was back in June and our guests are still raving about the experience. The food and drinks were spectacular!! Daniel and his crew were very attentive and helpful throughout the entire party. Not only was their food amazing they helped make the ambiance magical. I would recommend them to any one who is looking for a beautiful culinary experience.

Dan just catered my wedding and almost every guest told me his food was the best they have ever had at a wedding. The spices he uses and the charring of the various meats and veggies makes for a really unique and delicious taste (better than many Michelin-rated NY restaurants). His setup while he cooks makes for a really incredible experience for guests as well. To top it all off, Dan is just a phenomenal human being and a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Woodfire for a wedding or any other event!

Dan and his team genuinely have a gift for creating farm to table, family dining experience. Food was our top priority for our wedding day and we wanted it to be a beautiful family style set up, but most importantly unique dishes that most of our guests likely had not experienced before at other/traditional weddings. Between Wood Fire Food's cooking/grilling set up to their staff to their thoughtfully paired dishes, it was the highlight of the evening. We worked with Wood Fire Food on the majority of our day of needs, ranging from food to tent, to equipment rentals, etc. Dan was extremely personable and made effort to get to know us personally and strived to create dishes that represented us and/or our tastes. In addition to all of the food preparation, they created handcrafted signature cocktails and identified wines to paired with our meals, all which were well received by our guests.

We hired Dan & his team to work with us for our smallish, 70 person wedding in Hillsdale, NY. It was an amazing experience! We've always loved cooking over open fires, so we were looking for a caterer who did that. We got so much more than we were hoping for with WFF though.

Dan was super flexible and excited to make all kinds of adjustments to the food and drink menus to really make it fit our style. We tried not to throw too many last minute curveballs, but Dan had everything covered and totally rolled with the punches. He also has an infectious confidence that help us keep cool headed: if we ever brought up something we thought might be a concern, or turn in to a problem, he was always already a step ahead and ready to solve it for us. He let us use, and helped us set up, a few of his fire pits as part of our wedding ceremony. The yummy smell of food cooking over open fires just wafted through the whole area all day, it was all amazing.

TLDR: Couldn't recommend working with WFF enough. Everything they made was delicious, Dan is a great partner for putting a great event together, and his team was super on top of their game and made everything painless on the day of the wedding.

Our wedding day was a huge success thanks to Wood Fire Food! Dan and team run like a well-oiled machine. I was a bit worried leading up because communication had been a bit challenging, but everything went off without a hitch and the experience as a whole was incredible.

My husband is a chef, and our number one priority was to have have our reception feel like a fun dinner party. The guests RAVED about the food - so unique, and definitely the best wedding food that we've had. They were also VERY conscious of allergies which we greatly appreciated.

The woman running the show absolutely crushed it - she even personally brought appetizer plates to my husband and I to make sure we ate during cocktail hour! (THANK YOU!)

We also had WFF provide the cake topper for us to cut into. Cake wasn't a huge priority for us (they made other desserts), but this was one of the BEST cakes we've had. Lemon thyme poppyseed - wish we had the recipe!!

All in all - we LOVED this experience and would definitely do it again without question!! THANK YOU DAN AND TEAM!
