When couples decide to hire a wedding officiant, they ask the question "Who is going to tell our love story?" Reddit has anecdotes of folks who choose someone who is a bit of a performer or a good public speaker. Google says couples look for someone who shares their values and can convey that through a ceremony. But Amy Mader, a former wedding blogger and efficient laid out five tips for choosing a wedding officiant perfectly and I can proudly say that I fit the bill:

* First, hire a professional wedding officiant. I have done been performing wedding ceremonies since 2021 and am fully ordained and certified in New Jersey and New York.

* Second, hire someone who focuses the wedding ceremony on you and your relationship. My process is simple yet detailed. I love to get to know you and your fiance. Ideally, we would meet twice, once for me to sit and meet with you both, have a conversation with you as a couple, and then hold two separate interviews, one with you and one with your fiance to gather what it is that makes you a couple, but I'm willing to meet as many times as you feel comfortable.

* Third, hire an officiant with vision. I like to take your interviews, listening to them multiple times and pulling from them the things that make your relationship unique, the things that mean the most to you and your partner, the things that make you both love each other enough to be looking for a wedding officiant.

* Fourth, hire someone who is creative. This is the fun part for me because I get to what you both said, weave together all the details of you two as a couple, and create the most personalized version of your love story.

* Fifth, hire someone with whom you “click." There is no way of knowing if we will be a match for each other or if we will click, but I do have an 83% success rate of clicking with couples!
