Best in Maine!
We are so excited to work with Shovel and Spoon for our wedding. If you are looking for a caterer that goes above and beyond and will blow your guests away, think of them! We have been communicating with many caterers, but the food that Tomer and Courtney produced was so far beyond what anyone else offered, they were not even comparable. Taste their food and you will have no doubt that they are the best choice in Maine!
They bring a diverse cooking style to their food that makes you feel like you are in a 5 star restaurant in Portland with personalized portions, rather than large batch cooked catering. That alone makes them one in a million. They have a background in Middle Eastern cooking, Thai, and European including Spanish and Mediterranean. One in our group does not often choose ethnic dishes, and even she loved all of it. I think their food is unique, but also would be widely accepted by all people in your party no matter their comfort zone for cuisine.
They have been professional, prompt, and easy to communicate with from the beginning. Planning a large event is stressful enough, so it is really nice to hire someone you feel like you can trust and can actually make your job easier. I definitely don’t feel the need to overly monitor. I know that no matter how involved I am, the end result will be fantastic. There was not one dish we have tried that we did not like. They seem to truly care about making the results as wonderful as can be and are invested in being a part of things. I guess that is the difference between a catering company where it is simply a business going through the process and hiring people that love the process from start to finish – from farming to creating and serving. It comes across instantly how much fun they have cooking and how they are excited to share and see you enjoy too. Great ingredients, passionate people, and true cooking skills lead to a great end result.
Courtney and Tomer are able to magnificently showcase their own produce and if an ingredient is not available from their own personal farm, they purchase locally from those around them. To me, it is important to support local and I appreciate the farm-to-table aspect from the vegetables, to proteins and cheese.
I cannot recommend them more highly! Try their food! No caterer will ever compare again.

Shovel and Spoon are amazing!
Shovel and Spoon are amazing!
We used them for a weekend long wedding at a summer camp in Maine. Courtney, Tomer, Rachel and all the staff were fantastic. They are not only passionate about what they do, but they are so skilled and great at it!
From start to finish, they were easy to work with and fun to work with. The food was equally amazing. We had everyone tell us how awesome the food was (from self proclaimed foodies to to the meat and potatoes type).
We had a taco party, brunch, and full on family style wedding dinner; it was all perfect. They also handled some really specific dietary restrictions and won over some hard to please guests as well- all with a smile!
We can’t recommend them enough!

Great service and terrific food!
Courtney and Tomer catered my wedding reception in September, and both my husband and I and our 130 guests were super impressed! Courtney and Tomer grew most of the vegetables at the venue and the food was fresh and delicious! and it was creative!
