We feel beyond lucky to have been able to work with Courtney and the Shovel & Spoon team for a welcome event hosted the night before our wedding. I know this particular year they had stepped back from catering a bit while they were focused on other projects but it meant the world to us that they were able to do this event. Furthermore, I cannot adequately explain how amazing the food was! All night long people were coming up to us saying how delicious everything was, and our vegetarian friends were absolutely floored by the extensive spread of fresh dips and veggies that suited their dietary needs – it was all phenomenal. They also provided ice cream from Dear Dairy which was insanely flavorful, it really capped the night off. In sum, if you have the chance to work with Shovel & Spoon for an event or attend one of their farm dinners – don’t hesitate to do so. Where to begin with Courtney and Tomer? First, they are truly wonderful people. We immediately felt a connection to them and their approach to food and agriculture and and could see how thoughtful and responsible they are in how they think about food. Shovel and Spoon listened to all our wants and ideas with an open-mind and found ways to make them all happen in an even more beautiful fashion than we could have hoped for. Courtney & Tomer are so unbelievably talented - their attention to detail and creativity in their dishes is unlike anything I have seen in a catering business. I've been in the event industry for over 10 years now and they are by far the best I've found to date. Our wedding had 137 guests and we still have guests texting and emailing us asking about them and their dishes. They grow all of the vegetables on their farm and source everything locally and it truly shows. They are the sweetest couple too - welcoming us into their home for a private tasting. Their staff is also wonderful - as a bride and groom, you often are pulled into a million different directions but their staff made sure we had plates of food at all times. Every appetizer was incredible, every entree melted in your mouth - just so wonderful. This is not your typical wedding food - they are a high end culinary experience. The presentation of their food is also incredible. I could not recommend them enough and hope to work with them again in the future. It is wonderful to see great people doing great things here in Maine. Do yourself a favor and hire them for your next event. You will not regret it!

Courtney and Tomer are phenomenal to work with! They were very responsive, flexible, and worked closely with us to build the perfect menu for our special day. They also worked with our request to use compostable utensils and flatware. Everything was well prepared and delicious! We received sooo many compliments from our guests on the quality of our menu.

I truly don't know the words to do Shovel and Spoon justice. They were by far one of the best parts of our wedding and we are still getting daily compliments on how our wedding food was the best wedding food our guests had ever had. From day one Courtney was extremely helpful and responsive. She walked us through the menu making it easy to choose what we wanted. She also handled all our of our rentals for us making that whole process so easy and seamless. We officially fell in love with this company and its food during a tasting where they had us to their farm to feed us a meal. This was honestly one of the best meals my husband and I (and our parents) have ever had and we knew we had made the best decision for our wedding. You will not regret hiring this incredible team!!

When comparing caterers over a year before our wedding date, their menu immediately stood out as the most creative and original. The comprehensive tasting at their home (which also serves as their farm, kitchen, and bakery) exceeded our expectations. The food was extremely fresh and flavorful and presented beautifully. Even more importantly, their passion for cooking and farming came through during our pleasant conversations.

Courtney and Tomer were very prompt and thorough when exchanging emails during the planning process. It was clear they put in a lot of time behind the scenes. We had a unique situation where our big wedding plan in Maine shifted to a smaller occasion in Massachusetts, due to COVID-19. We were most excited about the food aspect of our Maine wedding, and were beyond pleased when they agreed to still cater for us. They rose to the occasion and allowed us to revamp our menu and serving style to fit our new vision. This also required extra logistical and administrative efforts, which they completed without complaints.

The actual wedding day food prepared and served by Shovel and Spoon was somehow better than we remembered from the tasting. They even snuck in some creative additions like fresh mint steeped tea and cantaloupe/watermelon ball appetizers. It was hard to choose favorites, as everything they served we would recommend. From bruschetta bites (shrimp and chicken), falafel and cauliflower with the best tahini sauce, cabbage and pea salad, and gnocchi with grilled fish—it was all delicious. Numerous wedding guests came up to us after and during, raving about the quality of the food.

Courtney and Tomer’s warm, dynamic personalities combined with their delicious cuisine, definitely made us want to stay in touch and follow their evolving efforts.

Courtney and Tomer at Shovel & Spoon are an absolute dream to work with. The entire wedding thing can be stressful - yet every time we spoke throughout the planning, we always ended the conversation feeling more at ease. We reached out to them for our September Maine wedding and from our initial conversation through the end of our wedding, they could not have been more supportive and helpful. We really care about seasonal food grown locally and they were the perfect fit!
We also have several friends and family members with dietary restrictions and Courtney & Tomer went above and beyond to be accommodating. Service is very important to us and Shovel & Spoon made it clear that it wasn't just the food they cared about. When we were planning, the overall "experience" of our wedding was mentioned several times. On the day of, they really delivered! Among many other perks, they made sure we got a chance to eat (not always easy as the bride & groom!) and they even packaged up a little to go box with wedding cake and cookies for us.

I cannot tell you how many people came up to me at our wedding and mentioned how delicious everything was - from the salmon and chicken, to the seasonal salads with cabbage and apple, to tahini cookies (my absolute FAV!), to the lobster app and hummus. Weeks after our wedding, people are still reaching out to me to tell me how delicious the food was.

When we think back to our big day, one of the biggest highlights will be having Shovel & Spoon as part of it. Courtney & Tomer - thank you so much for everything and the memories! Can't wait to see you both back in Maine :)

We had Shovel & Spoon cater our rehearsal dinner and wedding & could not be happier with how everything turned out. Courtney and Tomer were amazing to work with throughout the whole process. They were friendly, personable, and accommodating throughout the process from the food tasting through deciding and refining the menus to finally preparing and serving the food.
Speaking of the food, it was positively delicious. They grow or locally source they're ingredients and that freshness comes through wonderfully in the final product. From our rehearsal dinner including pulled chicken sliders, reuben, roast veggie sliders, potato salad, tempura green beens, and fruit including husk cherries to our wedding where they served hummus, veggies, fresh bread, cheese, bruschetta, incredible mini tasting bites, empanadas, green curry, roast chicken, moroccan fish, roast sweet potatoes, sesame crisps, tahini butter cookies, cardamom buttons, carrot cake ... I'm sure I'm forgetting some but everything was delicious and freshly prepared. Personally I'm not sure I could ever eat enough of their empanadas or falafel.
During the event, their staff was friendly and outgoing. Our guests commented on how personable the staff was. When we passed Courtney and Tomer they were all smiles and had set aside a small bite of each of their apps so that we didn't miss anything. After anticipating their food for months, it was greatly appreciated and they certainly delivered and more on everything from the tastings. They are also very professional and made the night about us enjoying our night and having no worries.
I can not rate Shovel and Spoon highly enough. Whatever your catering needs (or just buying and enjoying some of their wonderful bread or hummus at a local farmers market) working with Shovel and Spoon is delightful and delicious. I now wish I had another event to throw so I could work with them and enjoy their wonderful food again.
