History
The Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History came to be in the 1980s when the Santa Cruz Historical Society and the Art Museum of Santa Cruz County merged together to combine the arts and history of this remarkable city. This new foundation was going to be established in the old county jail building, but was redesigned as a new construction after the Loma Prieta earthquake.
