We are from the San Francisco Bay Area. Reverend Jesse Nako'oka performed our wedding in 2002 at the Old Plantation House in Olowalu, and he was great! We met him months before the service and felt very comfortable immediately. He told us how he used to visit the Old Plantation House as a young boy.

He was very warm, friendly with our guests, and had a lovely voice. He sang the Hawaiian Wedding song. Later to find out, he is very well known on Maui...extremely humble with a gentle soul. His nephew is Alika Nako'oka who is also a singer.

We will be renewing our vows this May 2012 for our 10 year and will be asking Reverend Jesse if he would be able to marry us again!

We found Rev. Jesse after it turned out that Pia Aluli couldn't perform our ceremony. He did a wonderful, memorable job, and was just wonderful--a very sweet man who brought a peaceful, beautiful aloha to the entire day. We're very grateful.

Absolutely horrible. We booked him 14 months in advance, and two months before the wedding, he asked if we'd be willing to move our ceremony to 6:30 (from 6) so he could do another wedding before ours. We said no since we had already booked him at 5, and because we had already sent the invitations. He ended up not showing up for our wedding -- he did the other wedding anyway, got stuck in traffic, and didn't show up. My husband had to call him 15 minutes after our wedding was to have begun, and he said he wasn't coming because of the traffic, and was going to turn around and go home -- on the other side of the island. We had to get an emergency stand-in, who was absolutely amazing. He was a friend of the caterer, and just a wonderful man. Nakooka finally returned our deposit several months later with no note, no apology, nothing.
