In 1987, Jim Kokas introduced a new, upscale style dining experience to downtown Detroit. Kokas a third generation restaurateur had served his apprenticeship at The Chambertin, his father’s successful Dearborn establishment. Jim Kokas is a University of Detroit graduate. Fresh out of college and armed with a sense for the Detroit market, Kokas created Opus One and the Opus experience.
Opus One encompasses the art of fine dining and haute cuisine while doing so in a sophisticated atmosphere with an ambiance where every last detail is considered. The mission statement: To create a one of a kind dining experience, using the freshest of ingredients, original recipes, and gracious professional service.
It wasn't long before customers became accustom to the Opus One experience and wanted to share this experience with family, friends and colleagues at home, work and non-traditional settings. Jim Kokas took his brand, values and philosophy on the road with the creation of Opus One Catering With locations and kitchens throughout southeast Michigan and various venues to choose from Mr. Kokas is able to ensure a top quality product with nonpareil service.
