The Property

Northfield Estate is a romantic and ornate venue that was rebuilt in 1977 and renovated in 2020. After changing hands many times, the property came into the ownership of Whitney and Robert Lipscomb. The Lipscombs transformed the estate house and surrounding grounds to elevate the space and appeal to couples. Great detail, thought, and care went into every decision during renovations to make this the best possible experience for clients and their guests. Rolling hills, open skies, and a timeless event space characterize the atmosphere of this luxury venue.

Northfield Estate offers a variety of flexible event spaces throughout the property to accommodate weddings of all sizes. With plenty of open space and a timeless blank slate, the property welcomes the creative ideas that couples are sure to have. Couples can tour the venue and envision their ceremony beneath the weeping oak tree or on the lower terrace with sweeping views of the estate grounds. Our elegant 5900 sq. Ft. Reception Tent, crafted from translucent sailcloth, creates a warm, inviting glow for guests as evening falls. Weddings and receptions can also move indoors, within the walls of the house, and capture the essence of the intricately adorned, grand architecture of the newly renovated estate house. An intimate ballroom invites couples and their closest loved ones to celebrate, dance, and make lasting memories.

Northfield Estate provides a range of services to couples planning their big day from set up and breakdown of upscale chairs and tables to an exclusive culinary experience from our in-house, executive chef and culinary team. Couples and their wedding parties can begin the morning in the getting-ready spaces, fully equipped with private restrooms, makeup vanities, comfortable furniture and kitchenette facilities. Northfield Estate not only hosts large ceremonies and receptions, but also engagement parties, showers, elopements, rehearsal dinners, and corporate gatherings.

Northfield Estate is located just over two miles from the Cumberland County line via US-60 E and VA-13 E. It is a 25 minute drive from Farmville, VA and 45 minutes outside of Richmond, making it readily accessible. For out-of-town visitors, Richmond International Airport is only a short distance outside the namesake city.
