We did not have our ceremony at the newman center but 1) we had our dear friend Fr. JP be the priest that married us. He is the head of the UCSD newman center. If you really want to get something out of your marriage prep he really really makes you guys go deeper and he is very vested in making sure that you and your fiance are in the right place. If you ever sit through one of the masses at the newman center, you will really be awakened and feel connected with the service. From the awesome music (Julie Marner) to presence of the congregation and the priests, to the homily, to warm welcome you get before each mass and just the sense of community...its great. This was our home parish when we lived in san diego, and it still is when we travel back.
2) One of my friends got married there and the ceremony was beautiful and she said that it was affordable. You do have to go through the "Good Samaritan Church" wedding coordinator though and work with her when it comes to using the church.
