My wife and I recently had an Indian wedding celebration in Albany. We came across Minar via a family friend about 6 months before the event and it was a no brainer to hire them as our caterers. Right from step one, they were quite easy to work with. Inder and his staff had us over to their NYC location (Banares, in lower Manhattan) twice to taste the entire menu. He was relatively quick to respond to menu changes and had some great suggestions. The day of the event, the Minar team was there on time and worked beautifully with the staff in the event hall. Everyone commented on their professionalism
The food (all-vegetarian menu, but there are meat options at Minar) was just incredible. It was prepared fresh and tasted exactly as good as it did (in smaller quantities) in the restaurant. Every single guest told us on the way out how incredible the dinner was and how it was one of the best wedding dinners they'd ever had. Our favorites were the spinach pakoras, chaat items, chole batura, saag paneer, deal, halwa, and rasagollas. The mango lassis were a huge hit, too.
For all of this, including travel costs, our total bill came out to $22.50/person (four appetizers, three salads, rice, four types of bread, four entrees, two desserts, lassis). That was by far and away the best deal available (and was even cheaper than the best local Indian alternative). We STRONGLY STRONGLY recommend Minar. If you do choose to take them up, please invite us because we definitely want to eat there again :).

Minar catered my wedding and provided outstanding Indian food. Guests raved about the food. The quality and presentation was outstanding (it was an Indian sit down dinner). The management team is extremely professional and is a class act. Very professional and easy to work with. I was highly impressed.
