After performing with his Steel Drum Symphony, "Pan Connection", for over 10 years. Mello decided to continue pursuing his passion as a solo artist. Now playing the steel drums for over 24 years, his passion stills radiates an energetic yet relaxing Caribbean Presence. History reflects that Trinidad and Tobago are the originators of the steel drum instrument. Mello was born in St. Croix to a Trinidadian family which gives him a diverse Caribbean culture. Loving the steel drums and reggae music gives him the diversity to display the steel drum with reggae vocals. He was trained by Trinidad natives, Arranger and composer Michael Belgrave and currently an apprentice of local Tampa Bay steel drum legend Mr. Kirby Rampart (who arranges, composes and has performed locally for over 50 years.) This not only equips Mello with the ability to navigate his instrument. But it also provides a background and history of the origination of the steel drum and its legends. With an extensive background with the steel drum, backed by his REGGAE VOCALS and the ability to MC and DJ he will give you an authentic musical display and A TRUE TASTE OF THE CARIBBEAN!!!
