About
The Maryland Center for History and Culture — formerly the Maryland Historical Society — is the oldest continuously operating nonprofit cultural institution in the state. The MCHC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that houses a collection of 7 million books, documents, manuscripts, and photographs, and 350,000 objects in its museum and library located in Baltimore.
Our campus is located in the Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore, just two blocks from the iconic Washington Monument. The campus sprawls across an entire city block and is a combination of classic Baltimore architecture and high modern design. Two outdoor gardens complement the structures, providing rare green space in Baltimore city! Equally rare in the city is our free secure parking lot.
