It's so rare to find someone who can do both hair and makeup well, let alone, someone who is also masterful with curly hair. Marvin is incredibly talented and the most fun person to be around while you're getting ready. From the first introduction he was so professional and a pleasure to work with. He made me look absolutely stunning for my welcome party and wedding and kept the laughs and good vibes going throughout. And again, I can not stress enough, he made my natural curls frizz free, bouncy, and long lasting beyond my outdoor ceremony.

Marvin arrived early for every appointment, listened attentively to each person’s needs, and delivered a high quality service. Marvin did an AMAZING job at listening and capturing exactly what I asked for in my hair and make-up previews and on my wedding day. Looking back I am still so grateful for Marvin's talent, professionalism, fun personality, and calm temperament. I am biracial and I have very different curl patterns throughout my hair, so having someone who knows the ins and outs of curly hair was a huge priority for me.

I was on a tight budget, but luckily I was able to accommodate the full-day service package. Which meant Marvin and his team were there from our getting-ready start time and stayed with me and the entire bridal party for speedy touch-ups throughout the day, up until the start of the reception. It was such a relief to not have to worry about my hair and make-up while standing in the hot and humid August weather.

My biggest fear on the wedding day wasn’t tripping down the aisle, but rather hair and makeup. As a Black woman, I was worried that I couldn’t find a hair and makeup team to pamper me on my wedding day, work well with my curls, AND have all the bridesmaids love their day-of glam! And that’s when I was introduced to Marvin!

Not only did Marvin help guide me when choosing a hair style for my wedding, he gave week-of prep to my bridesmaids, and sang all morning with us in the bridal suite.

My original plan was to wear my hair down for the wedding ceremony + cocktail hour, later pulling it in a bun for the reception. But one thing we can’t plan for is the weather. Before the ceremony, while taking pictures, the curls were NOT holding at all. Marvin shot me straight - my hair was not giving what it needed to give.

So he saved the day. He re-curled my hair during photos so I could get photos with my hair down, and then created a beautiful bun right before our ceremony! + helped the groom with his hair, too!

Marvin and his assistant Hailey were simply amazing! I loved our time together and I received so many compliments on my makeup from wedding guests. Marvin put me right at ease with his warm and friendly demeanor and we had so much fun together! He is also a consummate professional and all of the paperwork and payment was seamless on my end. I truly can't recommend Marvin enough. He even sent me a lovely thank-you note after our wedding!

This review is long overdue! I had the honor of working with Marvin this past September for my wedding. I had a small outdoor wedding in the Conservatory Garden, Central Park. After doing an extensive online search and reaching out to many makeup artists, I was lucky enough to get a response from Marvin. Marvin was extremely responsive from the beginning and immediately came across as extremely positive and energetic. We scheduled a consultation and I explained my very simple vision for makeup. During the consultation, I felt like I was talking to a friend. He was so bubbly, funny, and overall delightful. Upon speaking to him, I felt extremely secure and knew that I was making the right decision in retaining his services.

Marvin is the utmost professional and extremely transparent. I found his pricing to be extremely reasonable and there were no hidden fees. Additionally, Marvin truly listened to me and respected me. He was never pushy. When I told him that I did not want to do a trial session (because of cost and I wanted a very simple look, and fully trusted his vision), he at no point became pushy. There are some makeup artists that refuse to service you without a trial, but Marvin respected my wishes. He actually emphasized, that no matter what, he was going to make me look beautiful. His confidence made me feel so comforted and affirmed that I was in good hands.

We did my makeup onsite in my family apartment in the Bronx, another reason why his service was absolutely excellent. He arrived a few minutes before the scheduled time to set up, which was truly appreciated. I ended up booking makeup for my sister and mother, and makeup and hair for myself. He started with my mom, then sister, and ended with me, which was great since it allowed for my makeup and hair to be as fresh as possible. He was so kind to my entire family. Additionally, I want to note that as a woman of color, specifically a Black woman, Marvin truly takes a culturally competent approach to hair and makeup. When I told him that I was going to be doing clip-ons to have a blowout look, Marvin suggested a hair company that are experts with textured hair and ended up blending perfectly with mine. This is an example of the expertise and cultural sensitivity that Marvin displays. He not only made me feel extremely beautiful on my special day, but helped my mom (who barely ever gets makeup done) and sister also feel as confident, which was just as important to me.

Before turning this into a full dissertation, I just want to conclude by saying that Marvin is an artist. He is a force of nature, a talent, and exudes positivity, joyfulness, and love. He made my wedding day extremely memorable and special. So many people complimented me on my hair and makeup. Marvin also was so thoughtful and sent me a card post-wedding, congratulating me on the nuptials. His attention to details is truly amazing. I hope that he continues to have a successful career, as merited.

Marvin, there are no words for what you pulled off for my wedding. You were the most professional businessman (ON YOUR GAME!) and you figured out how to pull off hair designs based on a picture. From day one with your email response to my inquiry, I knew you were the right person for our group.
