Market Hall is an industrial chic wedding and events venue located in the Historic City Market of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina directly across from Moore's Square Park. Built in 1914, it was the city's first Farmer's Market! We honor that history with our in house chef inspired menu sourcing locally grown produce and ingredients. The space offers a blend of modern elegance with exposed brick, metal beams, raw wood, black chiavari chairs, market lights and cobblestone streets. Market Hall offers two different event spaces after acquiring 214 Martin Street, now called Park View at Market Hall.

Our Market View room can host up to 300 seated with a dance floor, and most weddings are 150 to 250. Our Park View room can host up to 140 seated with a dance floor, and most weddings are 75 to 125.

City Market, a collection of shops and restaurants, flourished from 1914 to the mid-1940s. Here, farmers from eastern North Carolina sold produce, poultry, seafood and home-baked goods. However, as supermarkets moved into the area, the old City Market closed in 1957 and turned into a furniture store in 1959. By 1980, the City Council decided to rehabilitate the Market and surrounding buildings. Joe Hakan and his son, Michael, bought and renovated the Market in the 1990s, allowing the space to come to life again. Ever since it has operated as catering, restaurant and event space.

Great venue, cool downtown vibe!
During our search for a wedding venue, we had a very specific idea of how we wanted our wedding to be. We wanted a place that didn’t feel like a wedding venue, had a cool vibe, and served as a complete package (food, beverage, dinnerware and drink ware, etc.). We knew we had a lot boxes to check so we started our search. After looking at 5 or 6 venues, we finally came across The Park View at Market Hall (formally 214 Martin Street). Jessica was very responsive to all our emails and during our first meeting was able to answers all of our questions and concerns. We chose to have both our ceremony and reception at The Park View, which was a little nerve wracking considering they would have to flip the room during cocktail hour after our ceremony. Jessica put our fears to rest and assured us that they had plenty of experience with doing exactly what we wanted. One of the best parts about The Park View is that they offered catering, bar services, dinner and drink ware. Linens were also easy because once you picked your linens through CE Rental they were added to the venue package. Throughout our entire wedding process, Jessica and The Park View staff was very responsive to all our questions and concerns. After our menu selection, we were 100 percent sure we had made the right decision because the food was delicious! After doing our final venue walk-through, Jessica was so great at making sure that we were handling all the wedding planning with ease and assured us that she was there if we needed anything, which was a great bonus. During our wedding, the flip from making the ceremony space into the reception space was done quickly and efficiently (even after we took all our family pictures at the alter). The space was able to be decorated beautifully with the help of our florist (Lilac Floral Decor). The service the night our of wedding was exceptional. Multiple people came up to us during our reception to tell us how amazing the food was-and we mean everything-from the chicken and waffle cones, bacon wrapped scallops, shrimp and grits and braised short ribs and the late night grilled cheese. Some people told us it was the best shrimp and grits they had ever had-and that’s a hard bar to live up to because they’re from Louisiana, home of cajun food! The only complaints we heard were that the beer wasn’t iced down initially during cocktail hour but that problem was resolved and that the bartender offered multiple people water before giving them a beverage (We’re sure they probably appreciated it the next morning though!) The cobblestone streets and market lights around The Park View were also a great addition to wedding pictures! Even though the venue went through a name change, menu change, and new chef during our wedding process, it did not affect our planning at all! The only suggestion we would have is creating an online portal so that you can manage your event and payment online. However, with that being said we are beyond pleased with Jessica and The Park View at Market Hall and would recommend The Park View to anyone in the future!Sent on 07/14/2019

Best Day Ever!
We rented both the Park View and the Market View for our daughter’s wedding reception of 216 people on August 17, 2019. Our guests of all ages absolutely LOVED the venue and everyone enjoyed the freedom to flow between both rooms. The food and drinks were exceptional (everyone raved about the salmon and whipped potatoes), the service could not have been better, and the market lights and decor elevated the atmosphere to be celebratory, special, and free-flowing.Sent on 08/22/2019
Downtown Raleigh happened to be extremely busy the day of our reception. There were activities in Moore Park right across the street and a local restaurant/bar hosted a festival with live music near Market Hall. We were very concerned that the noise and activity from these events would be a distraction to the reception. Pete and Jayne from Market Hall and our DJ (Randy Bennett from Bunn DJ Company) did a remarkable job of protecting us from the outside noise. All of them understood the importance of this day in the life of our family and they made sure that our day was memorable for all the right reasons. Their attention to detail and problem solving skills helped make our event successful!
We believe this is the premier downtown venue to showcase any event for people of all ages! Bravo Market Hall!! We give them the highest recommendation!!

Amazing Venue in Downtown Raleigh
Market Hall was the most perfect venue for our wedding!! We had about 175 people attend and we used the Market View side. The space fit everyone perfectly without feeling cramped like other downtown venues can feel. The bridal suite upstairs was recently re-done and it is beautiful. The perfect spot to take some pictures and lounge around before the ceremony. Market Hall gave us something we really wanted but had a hard time finding: an outside ceremony in downtown Raleigh. We had our ceremony on the street right out front with city views all around. It was incredible. Since we had the street for the night, our guests were able to be inside and outside during the reception which was very nice as well.Sent on 06/13/2019
Jayne and all of the staff there were so incredibly helpful through the planning process. They accommodated all of our requests, responded quickly when needed and truly helped to make our wedding day the best day ever.
If you're looking for a venue where you can really create your own vision, this is the space! I wish we could do it all again!

My team have worked over 20 events at Market Hall this year and it is one of our favorite Venues in Downtown Raleigh. It is a blank slate and brides get to come in and make it uniquely their own. Location is prime, right in the heart of downtown Raleigh, surrounded by Cobblestone streets. No better photo options around. The venue comes with tables and chairs, an on site manager, beautiful bridal suite and you have the flexibility of bringing in your own Caterer, all for a very reasonable fee for such a great location. The staff are knowledgeable, great customer service and response time, and are great team members to the wedding community. We highly endorse this Venue for weddings and events.

I have been to several events in the venue. The staff is easy to work with and very accommodating.
